Luxurious living in this beautiful restored farmhouse. Two master bedrooms with oak flooring, just fitted en-suite shower rooms, travertine tiles. Hand made terracotta tiles to the lounge and kitchen, beautiful 'buffed' finish.

The sunny terrace around two sides of the house is fantastic for outdoor living, with two dining areas plus a large permenant barbecue. The terrace is shaded by an ancient almond tree and has an automatic awning to shade you from the midday sun!

Double hardwood doors open into the living room - completely renovated, wonderful exposed stone walls, terracotta floors and a monumental fireplace with log burning stove to keep you snug on chilly low season evenings. Two giant leather sofas and a comfortable easy chairs chairs help to make a really great spot for relaxing (the TV with satelilite is hidden in a corner cupboard).

At the other end of the living room is the large kitchen/diner. The kitchen is handmade by a local artisan and has fabulous solid granite worksurfaces and best of all, an AGA 6:4 conventional cooker - a real touch of luxury! The light oak dining table will extend to seat up to 12. A french door opens onto the side of the terrace and the smaller of the two outdoor dining areas.

Everthing has been designed with quality and style in mind - forget any thoughts of a 'standard holiday house' this really will become your own home for the duration of your stay!

To the rear of the gound floor (but above ground level as the house is built on a slope) is a rear hallway leading to two large sunny bedrooms (with 6ft super king size beds) with views over the peaceful gardens. Both downstairs bedrooms have fabulous, newly fitted, en-suite shower rooms.

Stairs lead from the cool airy 'sejour' to a large mezzanine lounge - newly carpeted with a second TV with DVD player and comfortable leather sofa and armchairs, this is a great spot to relax while choosing your next book from our overflowing bookcases!

There's a beautiful painted sideboard tucked away in an alcove, packed with toys for children of all ages and a good selection of comfy cushions for the little ones to make this cosy corner their own!

Leading off the mezzanine are three bedrooms, usually set up as twins, but easily altered to provide comfortable 'super king' double accommodation. Windows in the eaves look out onto the beautiful gardens. Really comfy beds with crisp white linen and ample storage make all the bedrooms perfect retreats.

There is a second large bathroom with separate shower and WC opening from the mezzanine.

Further details outdoors

The garden is enormous With open lawned areas for outdoor games, a mix of mature and newer trees together with a fully fenced pond. The heated pool is great for everyone! Sunny terraces for sunbathing, great shallow end with roman steps for the little ones plus a proper deep end for diving, etc.

The thatched summer house proved a great hit in 2013 for all our visitors young and old - perfect for a shady picnic or glass of wine as the sun dips below the horizon...

For the little ones there is a kiddies swing and slide, plus a tyre swing high in the oak tree for the more adventurous, there's a football net, table tennis, babminton, croquet and boules, plus a good selection of bikes are there for our guests use - they just need to be requested before arrival so that we can reserve them!

The pretty painted playhouse is set in a wooded glade some distance from the pool so you can keep an eye on your little ones and let them enjoy a little independence

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Just south of the Dordogne and set amongst the rolling hills of 'The Larder of France', this is a great spot to spend time. Whether you enjoy the traditionally relaxed lifestyle of local markets and lazy lunches or a more active time canoeing, golfing or sightseeing. Gigan is a great base for all sorts of holidays.

The landscape is that of a beautiful fertile land, noted for the far reaching plum orchards and fields of sunflowers.

The area is bristling with Bastide towns - all different and offering much to interest the tourist. Most notable and within just a short drive are Eymet, Monflanquin, Penne d'Agenais and Pujols.

There are several large towns within reach - interesting in themselves, but also with good ranges of shops. Best to go on market day so you can enjoy the best of both worlds - most notable are Bergerac, Villeneuve and Agen.

There are several fabulous fortified chateaux within very easy reach, including Duras, Bonaquil and Biron - great for trips out and particularly fun when they run various festivals during the summer months.

Tombeboeuf

Tombeboeuf offers everything you need for day to day life, with a boulangerie, butcher, local shop (selling just about everything), pharmacy and good local restaurant. Just outside the village is a great 9 hole golf course, English owned, and club house - a really relaxing way of spending half a day. To the east of the village is a picturesque lake which is a nature reserve - great for an easy 4km walk or fishing (licences can be bought in the village).

Closer to the house is the restored windmill of Coulx - open to the public twice a week and a great walk along quiet lanes from the house - a really great spot for a picnic with the most amazing 360 degree views of the region.

Slightly further afield, to the south, is the town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. This is a traditional bastide town with a great local market, bustling centre and a good selection of shops and cafes.

The river Lot is about 15 minutes drive south and during the summer months boats and canoes can be hired at Castelmoron-sur-Lot and further afield on the rivers Dordogne and Garonne.

Restaurants are a plenty, from a simple cafe meal to the very best in dining. Information on these is in the information pack provided on arrival.

Just to the north is the Bergerac wine region with it's abundance of vineyards and some great wines. Suggestions for winetasting tours are included in the information pack.

Bergerac, itself, is well worth a visit - a great town with museums, river trips, good shops and some memorable restaurants.

There are daily markets in the local towns which make it so easy to slip into the slow pace of French life.

During July & August several of the local towns have 'Night Markets'. These are great fun, with trestle tables set out under the stars, locals and tourists eat together choosing their meals from the stalls set up by local producers - you can choose your wine, starter, main and pud all from different stalls. With live music and warm evening a trip to a night market is a real must for anyone visiting the area!

The area is steeped in history and to celebrate that history the towns and villages have medieval fairs during the summer, some just for one day and some for several - great fun with jousting, falconery, wandering musicians and stalls selling 'medieval' wares. - There are full details of these in the information pack provided.
