The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
A spectacular unspoilt region right in the heart of Portugal. Accessible from both Lisbon and Oporto. Close to the grand university town of Coimbra.
A great choice of river beaches and restaurants within a short drive and just over an hour to the sea or the mountains. There's something for everyone unless you want crowds and gift shops!
Tomar area
The valley that Ribeira Velha nestles into is pure portugal at its most tranquil but excellent local restaurants and the N110 are only 1.5 kilometers away. Tomar is just half an hour's drive, a lovely place to pass the day, explore the castle, lunch and shop.
Sophisticated Coimbra is not much further. Alternatively you are in easy reach of the Lousa mountains or beaches at Figueira or Pedra. Even more local is the gorgeous Templar village of Dornes, countless river beaches and other beauty spots. Fresh food readily available in the many markets and restaurants in the surrounding villages. Central Portugal is undoubtedly the perfect place to unwind!
