About the home

The large farmhouse is spread across two floors and incorporates a self contained apartment on the ground floor. The loft space has a large window offering spectacular views. Outside you can enjoy the extensive garden with bar area, covered terrace and private swimming pool.

The farm is situated in an easily accessible, peaceful area, only 8km from the highway A23 and 12 km from Castelo de Bode (swimming and water sports) between Torres Novas and Tomar. It has a train station at 1km. and various bus connections to Tomar and Torres Novas.

This is an area of historical interest and within 30km drive there are many worthy attractions to visit including Ourém, Batalha, Fátima, Alcobaca and it's only 1 hours drive by car to Lisbon.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

Costa da Prata region has many historical places of interest combining the mountainous landscape with sandy ocean and river beaches. Tomar and its surroundings combines culture and nature in a perfect way.
The climate can be a little more extreme than the coast , but is delightful in spring with the hot months being July and August but a good temperate climate most of the year, even having lunch on the terrace in December (Occasionaly)

Within an hours drive of the house there are such diverse places and countryside to see and experience. Coimbra the old University city (50 min),Tomar ,a delightful jewel of an ancient city from Templar times steeped in History, Fatima (30 min) the shrine ,Batalha (40) min Magnificent Gothic cathedral, the abandoned villages in the forested mountains near Lousa.

The barragem (15min), 40 kilometres of man made lake with wonderful scenery, boating ,swimming and deserted banks to picnic.Horse riding (4 min) or just quiet roads winding through the countryside exuding peace and tranquilty,restaurants (from 5 min) serving a variety of local dishes for such modest prices, and on it goes.

The Tomar / Soudos area

Soudos is a smal village of 250 inhabitants is situated in a important cultural area with nearby cities such as Tomar ( 9km van Soudos) with its very important monuments o.a. Convento de Cristo, the Templars head quarters, - world patrimony-
, en Torres Novas ( 8 km) with one of the strategic Castles in the line of defence
against the Moors. Also nearby are Batalha, , Ourém , Fátima, ( 15 tot 20 km). en Coimbra ( 80 km) can be easily reached.

Soudos lies on the edge of Serra de Aires a green protected zone with its beautiful moutain area. Soudos and all the area which surrounds it have a wanderful landscape and offers a lot of possibilities for walking. For those who like swimming there is at about 10 km the biggest lake of Portugal, Albufeira do Castelo de Bode.

Cheap flights available from Easyjet.co.uk to Lisbon

From airport Lisbon/Lisboa:
− Take the autoroute A1 to Porto
− After approximately 93km take exit Torres Novas (A23)
− After 8km. take the exit Torres Novas− Golega and on the second roundabout take direction Fatima or Ourém.
- Take route 349 to Tomar for approx. 8km.
− Follow direction Soudos
− Vila do Paco is on the right, take right in Vila do Paco to Soudos
− In Soudos ask for the Estrada das Deloucas (’casa da D. Júlia) or call the owner for further directions

By train from Lisbon/Lisboa:
− Go to the station Santa Apolonia and take the train to ’Entroncamento’ (1.15h.). Make sure you take a high speed train to limit the travel time
− In Entroncamento take the taxi to Soudos (approx. 11 euros). You can take a train to Soudos, but then you have to walk 1km with your luggage, so a taxi is often a better option.
