Home description
A lovely 5 year old single storey house with swimming pool situated on a hillside in the Andalucian countryside, 10 minutes' drive, or 20 minutes' walk away from the beautiful and historic white village of Tolox. The nearest town is Coin, approx 20 km away. The nearest beaches are approx 45mins drive away at Marbella. Malaga is less than an hours drive.
There Is a super swimming pool and patio area, and covered dining patio to one side of the house, and a pergola and large patio, and breakfast patio area on the other side. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. The main room is a substantial lounge/diner with a woodburning fire, television and DVD player and sofas at one end, and a kitchen diner at the other end. The bathroom contains both bath and separate shower cubicle. There is a travel cot.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
A superb place to visit. Very hot in the summer and autumn, wetter and cooler in the winter and early spring. Historic towns and villages are all around this area. The coast is only 45 minutes away. The nearest beaches are in Marbella, while the lake district is about 1 hour's drive away.
The region varies from the uber chic of Puerto Banus with its loony designer shops and huge yachts, through the huge shopping metropolis of Malaga to the timeless simplicity of life in the rural countryside. It really is something for everybody.
Tolox area
Tolox is an ancient traditional white village with steep narrow streets, a historic church, two village squares, a supermarket, several smaller general shops, a baker, a butcher, a chemist etc, lovely bars which do great food (ask for Paco's bar near the school) .
It is a great place to relax, walk, cycle, eat, sunbathe etc.The village is on the border of a national park with mountains and super walking and mountain biking tracks. The local roads are used by many road cyclists for training.
How to get there
Fly into Malaga Airport. We generally use easyjet, but Malaga is a very large international airport with many airlines operating cheap flights to and from many UK airports.
Car hire is available within the airport, after you collect your baggage. There are about 10 offices open 24 hours a day. We generally book up through www.carjet.com in advance to get a cheaper deal.
Driving time from the airport is about 45 minutes.
There is a bus service from Malaga bus station, but we would recommend that you hire a car as the house is in the countryside.

Further details indoors: The house is a 5 year old, traditional Spanish built single storey house with tiled floors, white walls and lovely high wooden cathedral ceilings. The two bedrooms are basic and comfortable with lovely soft beds, and shuttered and screened windows. The lounge diner is light and airy with comfortable furniture including a double bed sofa. There is a small flatscreen television which runs off a dish and has mainly foreign channels, but does receive BBC news 24 and several other English speaking channels. The DVD player plays UK discs. We have mainly old films. There are loads of books, excellent for relaxing in the sun with. The kitchen area contains a large fridge with smaller freezer, electric cooker and hob and washing machine and dryer (although there is also a rotary washing line for the freshest ever clothes) We have drunk the water for the last 5 years without ill effect. It tastes normal, until you get back home and realise how peculiar our UK tapwater tastes. If you would prefer there are several shops and bars in the village selling bottled water and more tasty alternatives.
Further details outdoors: The house is in a really stunning part of the countryside, in its own private, fenced in, hillside terraced field. There are olive, almond and fig trees on rough ground surrounding the house with its sparkling pool, terra cotta slabbed patios and large pergola. The front door opens out onto a covered patio with large round wooden table and chairs great for dinner out of the sun, this leads onto a poolside terrace with wooden sunbeds and large parasol, and dappled shade from an almond tree in the evening. The pool is very deep, and 4m x 8m, and very clean. The pool is cleaned every week, and filtered twice a day. There are steps at the far end of the pool leading down to the car parking area. The back door, in the kitchen area leads out onto a small breakfast patio with table and four chairs, this leads onto a large terrace with a pergola under which you can hang the hammock and snooze in the shade of the plants.
Further details
This is a super house in the country, great for a relaxing break. Small children will need to be supervised closely as the pool is deep, and the land around the house and patios is farmland, and so stony etc with places where small kiddies could fall etc. The nature of the surrounding area would make wheelchair access very difficult. (our family loves it though, just letting you know you are in the heart of rural Spanish countryside here)
Conditions
There is a BBQ which can be used at all times but we do ask that great care is taken especially in the summer months when the countryside is tinder dry and liable to catch fire very easily, when we BBQ we always have the hose pipe handy just in case!
We say not suitable for small children only because of the depth of the pool, the shallow end being about 5' 2" and the deep end about 9' there are steps but it is still deeper than most pools.
