The Goriska region

The Tolmin area slowly but persistently becomes a stage for various festivals and a destination for lovers of metal, rock, popular, alternative and folk music. The popular festival scene at the confluence of two crystal clear So?a and Tolminka rivers gives a special value to these festivals.

Natural bathing areas: The lake itself, however, is hardly popular with bathers, who during hot summer days prefer to enjoy themselves along the banks and gravel sections of rivers: Podbela and Kred by the Nadiža River, pebble banks from Kobarid to Tolmin on the So?a River, and Slap ob Idrijci and Ba?a pri Modreju on the Idrijca River.

The secrets of living water: 14 vital energy points have been discovered using radiesthesia along well marked walkways leading from the confluence of the Idrijca and So?a rivers to the village of Modrej and further on to the Pod klju?em location, as well as on the right bank of the lake under the village of Modrejce past the Šterk inn to the villages of Kozmerice and Sela pri Vol?ah. Specially selected energetic stones, pebbles from the So?a, Idrijca and Nadiža rivers have been placed at these spots to enhance the flow of energy into the environment. The walkways lead past six interesting water springs, three of whichare considered healing by tradition and radiesthesia, eight villagestone water sinks, a water catchment from the 1st World War and threecarst caves. The points differ depending on the energy characteristics that affect the human body, the chakras of the body. The characteristics of individual points are presented on posts beside the pebbles. The spots are also adorned with sculptures by famous artists.

For lovers of wild and fast rapids, the So?a River is one of the most desired destinations in all of Europe.

They can go rafting, kayaking, and hydro speeding or take on other sporting adventures accompanied by guides from numerous local sports agencies, for solo navigation, however, they will need a permit. The popular canyoning enables visitors to experience picturesque gorges, waterfalls and pools.

The section of the So?a running through our region offers practically everything: rafters will gather at Trnovo ob So?i; kayakers will love the section of between the Otona pool and Kobarid; and families, schoolchildren, and beginners will prefer the smooth flow between the gravel sections from Kobarid to Tolmin.

Kobala is an excellent starting point for long cross-country flights on the southern crest of the Julian Alps and a well-known competition site. Kobala is a popular paragliding and hang gliding take-off, as well as an excellent starting point for long cross-country flights on the southern crest of the Julian Alps and a well-known competition site. Road leads past the house on Kobala.
