Hisa Brdo is a 200 year old house situated in a small hamlet 2 kilometres away from the village of Grahovo in the picturesque Baca valley which winds its way into the Julian Alps.

There is a large garden to the rear of the house which boasts several mature apple and pear trees. At the end of the garden, 100 metres below, the river Baca meanders its way through the valley. Directly to the rear of the house there is a herb and salad garden as well as a patio and bbq area. The first floor has a balcony with another patio area which has spectacular views of the mountains and evening sunset, don't worry if you are busy with the bbq you can still see it from the lower patio area!

The house is situated on 20 acres of forest. You can take a steep walk down through the forest to the Baca River .(only recommended for the fit and adventurous as the decline is quiet steep) or you can drive there in about 5 minutes Mountain biking, hiking, climbing, trekking and fishing are all possible in the immediate area.

Grahovo is a small, sleepy, rural village surrounded by mountains and forestry. It is unspoilt as it is slightly off the main tourist track but still allows you to access all the main tourist attractions and activities.

As regards to things to do in the Baca and Soca Valleys, well, the list is long....paragliding, fly fishing (Slovenia is world famous for its paragliding and fly fishing) canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking, trekking, hiking and hunting to name a few.

If you are less adventurous, this area is steeped in history from the 1st and 2nd World Wars, there are many local walks where you can explore bunkers and visit monuments. You can visit Slovenia's widest tree in the nearby village of Rut. Take more relaxing walks near the house or simply relax in the garden and take in the view. However you choose to spend your time, you are guaranteed to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, flora and fauna of this beautiful area.

I promise that you will fall in love with this area after experiencing the beautiful valleys, friendly locals and crystal clear rivers that this region has to offer.

Alternatively, you can catch the car train from Podbrdo (Podbrdo is a 15 minute drive from the house) which cuts through the mountains and gets you to Bohinj in 7 minutes. Bled is a further 15 minutes drive from Bohinj.

Tolmin, located in the Soca Valley, is the closest principal town and is a 16 kilometre drive from Grahovo. There you will find supermarkets, Adventure Sports Centre, cinema etc.
