Location

This charming apartment is a few minutes walk to the trendy Shimokizawa station. Shimokitazawa is located in Setagaya, Tokyo and is usually considered to be one of Tokyo's hippest neighborhoods among young people. The atmosphere and fashion is similar to that of Harajuku, but is usually less crowded and has a much more laid-back atmosphere. It consists of the neighborhood immediately surrounding Shimo-Kitazawa Station, where the Odaky? and Kei? Inokashira Lines intersect. Also known as "Shimokita", the district is a center for stage theater and live music venues. It is home to the historic Honda Gekij? theater building. It has numerous cafes, unique fashion and music outlets. When it comes to shopping, secondhand clothes shops and shops offering miscellaneous items from the 70s and old animation-themed toys are quite popular. The number of large-scale shops in the area has been increasing, but the nicest feature of this town is the many shops expressing the ingenuity of their young owners, such as those combining a cafe and a record shop or an outlet for small handmade items.

During the month-long Shimokitazawa Theater Festival, held every February, various plays are performed at eight small theaters. There is also the Kitazawa Music Festival held every July, where you can enjoy live music not only in live houses, but also in every alley throughout the town.

If you want to experience the casual and friendly charm of Shimokitazawa, it is highly recommended that you visit during the Tengu-matsuri Festival, held at the end of January or beginning of February, which includes a parade of people dressed as the specter of the mythical Tengu, with its long nose and red face. The lively Mikoshi-matsuri Festival (portable shrine festival), held in early September, is another local event that should be experienced.

Transportation:

Easily accessible to Shimokitazawa (Odakyu and Keio Inokashira line) - 6 minutes (walk), Shindaita 5 minutes (walk), Shinjuku - 7 minutes (train), Shibuya - 5 minutes (train).

More about Odakyu line:

Along the Odakyu Lines, there are a host of sightseeing spots such as Shinjuku, Hakone, Enoshima and Kamakura where you can enjoy urban life, traditional history and beautiful natural scenery. With Odakyu, you can easily travel to Shinjuku for world class city center shopping and cuisine, or tour and enjoy Hakone with its hot springs and wonderful natural scenery, and of course, Mount Fuji, and the Fuji Five Lakes region. Get in training for the hiking trails and beauty of Tanzawa-Oyama, or steep yourself in the history and traditional culture of Enoshima and Kamakura, or just let it all go, relax in the famous hot springs (onsen) of Ito and feast on its renowned seafood dishes. Odakyu Electric Railways provide economical, convenient and comfortable access to all these places, allowing you to enjoy Japan at your own pace. From Shimokitazawa, you can ride a rapid express train for about 2500 yen in 80 minutes. That saves a lot compared to expensive Shikansens (bullet trains).

"perfect location, very cozy and comfortable!"

I stayed in this apartment with my father for ten nights while traveling to Japan. The location is absolutely perfect- close train rides to Shibuya, Shinjuki, and Harijuku. The train station was only about a 7 minute walk. I find Shimokitazawa to be the best location to stay in Tokyo because it is quiet and relaxing to escape from the noise and bustle of busier areas, while also offering an excellent array of convenience stores, restaurants, and shopping just 3 minutes down the road!
When I go back to Tokyo, we definitely will want to stay here again. Shimokita has so much to offer, and it was really great to come back to the quiet apartment on a quiet road and get some good sleep. The apartment fit my father and I comfortably- we found it to be very clean and cozy. So much better than staying in a hotel, honestly! My only qualm is the heating system in the apartment heats only the main room, not the hallway/bathroom. As I slept in the loft bed, the heat was very strong to me, while being not so strong on my father on the floor. Sometimes it was hard for us to find a comfortable temperature for both of us on the heating system.
However, in Japan they tend to use space heaters only in the rooms they stay in, so this is very common and quite expected.
Overall, our stay was excellent and I would definitely return! Definitely recommend, particularly the location is absolutely wonderful!

Thanks so much for your time again and for staying in my rental, willing to host you , when you happen to come to Tokyo Japan another time .
