Sant'Orsola is a stunning 13th century monastery with farmhouse sleeping up to 10 guests in spacious luxurious accommodation. It has a beautiful restored chapel suitable for formal or informal weddings. The house sleeps 10 comfortably in five en-suite bedrooms. Sant'Orsola is set in large grounds, full of mature trees.The large 12X6 swimming pool is easily accessible from the property. Sant'Orsola is a perfect base for exploring cultural and spiritual places of interest both in summer and winter. There are always musical concert throughout. the year, ( a lot of them are free) many staged in beautiful villages such as Pannicale. As English owners living here we offer our local knowledge of village food festivals, excellent restaurants and local places of interest. We do offer long winter rentals in the winter (heating not included). For anyone wanting to spend some time in Italy whilst perhaps contemplating buying here, or waiting for a house to be built, this is an ideal opportunity to become immersed in Italian life and learn the language. There are many reputable language schools in the area.

The Umbria region
Umbria enjoys beautiful warm weather in Spring and Autumn. During June, July and August temperatures are around 25 to 30 degrees.
The region is steeped in history and the medieval towns of Perugia, Todi, Assisi and Orvieto are within a thirty minute drive on good road. It is possible to do day trips to Rome and Florence using the rail network.
All the nearby historic centres stage special events throughout the year, one of the most famous being the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia this year being staged during the first two weeks of July. This event attracts big names from all around the world. (See special Late Deal)
Todi / Marsciano area
Schiavo is a small village, five minutes walk from Sant Orsola with three bars (one does takeaway pizza),and a small supermarket.
During the summer months the local villages stage food sagras where local recipes are dished up. There are three good restaurants within a five to ten minute drive and it takes five minutes to walk to a farm restaurant.
How to get there
From April 2008 it will be possible to fly with Ryanair from London Stansted to Perugia on Saturdays. Ryanair already fly to Perugia on Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays. Perugia is just a twenty minute drive from Sant'Orsola and forty five minutes from Todi. Ryanair also fly to Rome Ciampino as do Easyjet. Other airports within driving distance are Ancona (2 hours) Forli ( 3 hours) and Florence (3 hours).
The journey from Rome is one hour forty five minutes. From the airport take the GRA around Rome following signs to Firenze. Leave the GRA at Uscita 10 still following signs for Firenze. Once on the AI do not exit until Orte. Then take the E45 (ss3bis) following signs for Cesena and Perugia. Exit the E45 at Marsciano/Collepepe. The first unmade road on your right signposted for Il Magnifico. Our house Sant'Orsola is 2.7 kilometres, a large yellow house on the right surrounded by cypress trees.

Further details indoors: The interior of the farmhouse lends itself well to groups of families or friends with a huge living area and smaller private library and television room. It sleeps up to ten comfortably. There is an eat in kitchen and huge eat on terrace with stunning countryside views.
The house is beautifully furnished with antiques and retains its original character with chestnut beams and terracotta floors throughout. It is situated on a quiet farm road yet within a five to ten minute drive of shops, restaurants and bars. It's possible to walk to the nearby village which has three bars and a supermarket.
A one bedroom apartment which leads out to the pool, is also available.
The beautiful restored chapel can be used for quite reflection or small wedding parties. Many of our guests visit Sant'Orsola to celebrate special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries, with their friends and families.
Further details outdoors: The grounds are laid to lawn with a large selection of fruit and nut trees and manicured hedges, large terracotta pots and statues. There are many private places away from the swimming pool, such as the olive grove, for resting and reading.

The pool is open from April to October and cleaned daily The house and monastery rooms are cleaned once a week inclusive in the price. In the winter it's possible to rent Sant'Orsola for a long let of 4-5 months. This is a good opportunity for anyone wanting to spend the winter in Umbria or anyone needing to rent whilst waiting for a house to be built or renovated.
Further cleaning is available at a rate of €10 an hour. The linen and towels are changed once a week. Pool towels are provided. A small speedboat is available for hire at nearby Lake Trasemeno.
