Villa Ariete
About the home
Villa Ariete is a beautifully restored farmhouse located in the heart of Umbria. The villa has its own designer pool sat atop a hill with amazing views in all directions. The villa is extremely flexible as it is comprised of three separate apartments, but interconnecting doors can be opened to create one very large property; great if you have two or three family groups holidaying together.
Guests can easily visit the beautiful hill towns of Umbria or just relax and unwind by the pool or in the extensive gardens, including lawn, olive groves and a small vineyard. The small village of Migliano has a small cafe and a restaurant in the castle (open at weekends). The restaurant attracts visitors from all around the region where its specialties include homemade pasta and wild boar.

The villa is divided into three apartments which have doors which can be opened up between them when required. There is space both indoors and outdoors for large groups to dine together.
Tramonto (2 double en suites)
New fully equipped kitchen with dining table, outside shaded terrace with table for alfresco dining, large bright lounge with wood fireplace, piano and wonderful views across the Tiber valley. The two bedrooms, each with en suite bath and shower, are spacious and comfortable.
Mezzodi (2 doubles and 1 twin)
Fully equipped kitchen with marble worktop, large dining area and shaded terrace with a beautiful view of the castle. Lounge with wood fireplace and TV/DVD. Family bathroom with bath and shower.
Alba (2 double 1 twin and 1 single)
The two main living areas lead onto paved terraces where sun or shade, herbs and vine-covered pergolas provide an ideal setting for outdoor meals, sunbathing, or barbecues and warm evenings with wine and music and good friends. Upstairs are the two double rooms and the twin room with a family bathroom (bath and shower). Downstairs is an en suite (shower) single room.
Further details outdoors:
The front and sides of the property have a beautiful lawn for lazing in the sun or playing games. A path leads up a hill behind the house to the beautiful pool which is perfect for cooling down on a warm summer day.
There is also a bocce court (Italian bowls) in the new orchard for a friendly afternoon game. Within the grounds are olive groves, a vineyard and an orchard for you to explore and the grounds are surrounded by woodland with a river running along the valley, which is reachable in 30 minutes on foot along a hiking trail.
Further details
We prefer to rent out the whole villa but are happy to take bookings for smaller groups.
Children are very welcome - we have two young daughters and the villa is equipped with cots and high chairs available for no extra charge.
If you have any specific needs then please let us know and we will try and organise this for you.
The Umbria region

Umbria is a fabulous place to visit all year round, with wonderful hill towns, amazing restaurants and a history that stretches back far before the Romans. The list of places to visit is endless, I have been coming to this area for over ten years and I still have places left to explore including the wine museum at Torigiano and the renowned hill town of Gubbio.
My personal favourites are Orvieto, with its underground caves and crisp white wine and Montefalco, much smaller in scale, but with red wine that really packs a punch and a lovely square for an afternoon stroll. Lake Trasimeno is also well worth a visit with a castle, boat rides and quiet islands.
The Todi / Marsciano area
Migliano is a small hilltop town with a fortified castle and a recently discovered Roman ruins part of an ongoing archeological dig.
Within the Castle there an excellent restaurant serving fresh pasta, wild boar and truffle dishes both found in the woods surrounding Ariete. There is also a small cafe in the village.
All the local villages hold there own festivals throughout the summer all of which offer a fabulous way to experience typical Italian food and music. Migliano has its own which is one of the most popular in the region regularly attracting up to 1000 people.
Marsciano is the nearest local town with a pretty historic town centre and all the necessary facilities including supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and other local shops. It also has a number of good restaurants and pizzerias. There is also a market on Monday mornings which is a great adventure!
