Set in the heart of Umbria, Marsciano is situated in a vast level area crossed by the Tevere river and by the Nestore river.
Its territory fully represents the lines typical of the Umbrian landscape: fertile countrysides and sweets hills disseminated of small suburbs where the thread of the history is unraveled with unusual continuity allowing a variegated stratification of cultures and styles.

The ancient origins are testified by traces and finds of installations etruschi, Romans and longobardi. The first mention in public acts dates back to the 1004. In the XII century became feud of the Bulgarelli counts, family of origin longobarda, that surrendered it to Perugia doing a fortress of border of it in the battles against Todi in 1281.
