About the home

Set in the mountains of Umbria, surrounded by quaint little hill top towns, amongst silvery olive groves, vineyards and fields of sunflowers lies CASA CARA. Approximately 30 minutes to the north is the lively but relaxed city of Perugia and the spiritual town of Assisi home of St Francis, 30 minutes to the south is Orvieto famous for its fine wines and magnificent cathedral.

CASA CARA sleeps 5 in a double, a twin, & a single bedroom, with 3 bathrooms . The property has all modern amenities yet with the charm of an Italian home. CASA CARA is surrounded by large open gardens, overlooking the swimming pool, and is set in farmland close to Rotecastello, San Venanzo and the market town of Marsciano. Al Fresco dining in your own large private terrace with stunning hilltop views and breathtaking sunsets

First Floor: Two large fully furnished bedrooms, one double, and one twin/double both en-suite with ample amounts of wardrobe space. Private balcony on back bedroom overlooking the pool with magicial views. All windows fitted with Mosquito Screens. Linen and towels provided.

The Umbria region

Within a short drive of CASA CARA is Perugia, famous for its university for foreign students founded by Mussolini, and its international jazz festival in July. Immerse yourself in the culture of Perugia with its splendid architecture, art galleries and musuems. Further on for the spiritually minded Assisi has been welcoming its pilgrims since the middle ages. This is the home of St Francis christianity's best known saint.

Terni to the south is home to the most publicised attraction the famous waterfalls. Several painters have captured them and Byron & Dickens all waxed lyricial about the Cascata Marmore. Further along is the church of San Stefano home of Le Mummie di Ferentillo.

For outdoor activities Lake Trasemino Italy's largest non-Alpine lake provides the perfect habitat for a wide variety of birds San Feliciano on the east coast of the lake has an authentic fishing community, the harbour is dotted with fishing boats where fishermen sit and mend their nets. For canoeing, climbing, paragliding, hang gliding, treking,horse riding, mountain biking, canyoning and rafting visit www.asgaia.it . For golf visit www.golfclubperugia.it

The Todi / Marsciano area

Visit Deruta 15 minutes from CASA CARA famous for its ceramics. Ripibianca famous for its cashmere and pottery.
Spoleto in June and July is the popular venue for the arts festival of music, theatre and dance.

Lago di Piediluco has a medieval village to the side of the lake, follow the road around to the beach and hire a pedalo or take the two hour boat trip on the 'ecoboat' this will tour the lake without disturbing the wild life.

There is a market almost ever day in one of the many towns in Umbria. Tuesdays & Saturdays Perugia (Via Ercolano) (Mondays Marsciano), (Tuesday Gubbio), (Wednesday Spello ), (Thursday Citta de Castello), (Friday Spoleto)

The nearest airports are Perugia with direct Ryanair flights from Stansted, and Rome with direct flights by Ryanair and Easyjet. Car hire is essential (Hertz in partner Ryanair). Half an hour drive from Perugia and one and a half hours drive from Rome.

Casa Cara is located on a wonderful hilltop setting one kilometer from the village of Rotecastello, four kilometers from the market town of Marsciano.

“We had a truly fantastic holiday at this house up on the hills.” The house Casa Cara was really well kitted out with everything you could possibly need on a holiday from information leaflets to all mod-cons and impecably clean. Views stunning, weather great and truly magical towns to explore.. So so many lovely resturants in and around the area to visit, yet a gem of a house to relax and unwind at the end of a day. Great pool and sunbeds to unwind with lavender bushes wafting our cares and stresses away... So many beautiful towns and villages in and around the area to see and experience the friendleness of the local people... The owners of the house Julie and Fergus O Neill were so helpfull and did provide everything to make our holiday a truly great one, as we were very sad to leave, coming back is a must.. Such a well kept property!!
