La Gardenia is a traditional stone-built house, dating from the Middle Ages. It is located in the heart of Todi, voted the most livable town on earth and the setting for the classic 1965 film The Agony and the Ecstasy.
Situated on the upper 2 floors of the building, the apartment, which is recommended by Lonely Planet the Tuscany/Umbria edition, offers stunning views over rooftops, churches and town monuments. From the balcony, which is large enough for a small table and chairs, one can enjoy the clean air and the peacefulness of the surrounding hills. Furnishings range in style from the distinguished 19th-century tea room, to the early 20th-century, and are elegant and comfortable.
The owner is a native of Todi and can offer assistance in English with everything, from sightseeing to maid service on-request.

The Umbria region
Umbria, often called the 'green heart of Italy' is found in the centre of the country, and is a region of extraordinary beauty and spirituality, with a lush and gentle landscape of hills, mountains and lakes. Its towns, most of them situated atop hills -- Perugia (the capital), Assisi, Spoleto, Orvieto, Montefalco, Spello, Gubbio, Deruta and Bevagna -- are justly famous and all are within striking distance of La Gardenia in Todi.
Todi / Central Todi area
Todi is equidistant between Rome and Florence.
For the sports-minded, there is good walking, swimming, hot-air balooning, cycling and golf. There are also fabulous museums, tiny historic theatres, jazz and blues festivals and local opera. Ther excellent local wines include the unique Sagrantino and the gourmet cuisine is based around local produce including truffles, olive oil, polenta and farro (or spelt).

By air: Ryanair flies to Sant'Egidio Airport in Perugia and also to Rome Ciampino. Easyjet flies to Rome Fiumicino. By train: The train from Rome to Todi Ponterio (change at Terni) takes 2 hours; from Florence to Todi Ponterio through Perugia Ponte San Giovanni it's also roughly 2 hours By coach: There is direct service from Rome's Fiumicino airport toTodi Ponterio By bus: There is another direct service from Rome's Tiburtina to the centre of Todi (Piazza Jacopone)
