About the home

This apartment is included in a 3-story Roman and Medieval house that hosts only 2 apartments in total and which is set back from the street in a small nice courtyard, a five-minute walk to Todi’s main square, with its 12th century cathedral, town hall, clustering of outdoor cafes and frequent cultural events. All of Umbria stretches out below you from the windows. Owned by an Italian painter in early 20th century who decorated the ceilings of the majestic buildings in the square and then by a great Pulitzer-prize poet, the apartment still keeps the charm of the Roman and Medieval times: the nice large outdoor landing in front of the main door where you can sit and enjoy the view of a typical Medieval street and courtyard, the old arches, vaults and Roman well in the basement, the imposing century-old wooden beams and terracotta tiles of the ceilings and floors. People love the apartment not only for its charm but also for its privacy while being so close to the square. The apartment and the whole house were restored in 2006 by retrieving all original materials, such as terracotta tiles on the floors, massive wooden beams on the ceilings, stone walls, stone fireplaces

Despite they are less famous, the Umbrian white wines are also excellent; we should mention: the Grechetto, the Orvieto Classico and the Bianco of the Colli Amerini and of the Colli del Trasimeno), olive oil (The Umbrian hills, specially in the area of Assisi, Trevi, Campello and Spoleto, are perfect land for cultivation of olive oil. The rich and at the same time light taste are the guarantee of a level of quality very elevated certified by the denominations D.O.P. D.O.C. D.O.C.G. that the largest majority of the producers of the region has earned. The Todi / Central Todi area

Known as “the most liveable town in the world” according to the U.S. Kentucky University search, Todi was supposedly founded around 2707 B.C. by the Veii Umbri and later developed by the Etruscan population. Both the Etruscans and the old Romans improved the town with their splendid works, gates, walls and theatres. In the Middle Ages the town flourished and numerous gorgeous “palazzi”, gates and churches were built around the main square, which is considered one among the most beautiful squares in Italy.
