Home description
The Villa is a very romantic location, all the rooms are decorated in different colours in the typical Italian Style. Relax and service, history and quiet, fun and good food is what Todi is, what you can find in this perfect holiday in Villa Sobrano.
Just three kilometres from the old town centre of Todi, Villa Sobrano is a picturesque country house surrounded by vineyards and nestled in the green rolling hills for which this region is so well known. The villa itself is a complex of several agricultural buildings that border a central main residence. Today the complex of Villa Sobrano comprises a courtyard, an entrance garden, the Villas main garden, a private chapel and a fortress erected in the 13th century known as the 'Castello'. Nowadays the villa is divided into four double rooms and two suites, each with its own sitting room. All the rooms are entirely furnished with period pieces, and include private bathrooms and every modern convenience. The villa also contains a living and dining areas.
Guests at Villa Sobrano have a variety of activities available to them, from simple walks in the countryside to horseback riding, and mountain biking to gourmet excursions, that feature cooking lessons at the prestigious Perugia Cordon Bleu academy. Guests may also hire a professional guide to show them the marvels of Todi and other Umbrian favourites such as Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi.

The Umbria region
This itinerary reconstructs the evolution of the urban and architectural structure of this medieval town within the context of the local realities.
Todi's outer ring of walls, a 4 km-long structure built in 1244, and the imposing structures of Piazza del Popolo all originate during medieval times. The religious and political focal point of Todi is the starting point. On the East side is Palazzo del Popolo, one of the oldest buildings in Italy, built in 1213 to house the Podestą and the citizen's assembly which met in the Sala delle Pietre, and Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo (1293), home of the municipal and judiciary administrations and the beautiful council hall (Sala del Consiglio). To the South is Palazzo dei Priori built in 1334 to lodge the representatives of arts and trades, but quickly transformed (1367) in offices of the pontifical Governor when the city lost its autonomy. The front of the building houses a majestic bronze sculpture of an eagle, the city's symbol, executed in 1340 by Giovanni Giliacco. The architectural symbols of a free city are contrasted in the North side by the Duomo, an XIth century structure with an elegant Lombard facade of romantic style. The Church contains many important works, including a frescoe by Ferrał da Faenza representing the Final Judgement (1596) and the beautiful wooden choir sculpted between 1521 and 1530 by Antonio and Sebastiano Bencivenga of Mercatello sul Metauro.
Todi / Collevalenza area
This itinerary is dedicated to the places visited by Jacopone of Todi, famous XIIIth century poet. The city, in all its medieval tones, is a backdrop for the visitor to understand the places which inspired the poet in his strong religious feelings. The itinerary begins with a visit to the Museo-Pinacoteca and the Museo della cittą where the genealogy of the Benedettoni family illustrated the roots of the young law graduate, Jacopo de' Benedetti, and where many objects and paintings narrate the strong civic and religious commitment of the poet. Exiting the museum into Piazza del Popolo where the architectural, artistic and historic references of political power (Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo del Capitano and Palazzo dei Priori) and religious authority (Cattedrale and Vescovado) bring forth names such as Bonifacio VIII and Matteo d'Acquasparta major players of the time and direct antagonists of our Franciscan monk. Going uphill, towards the birthplace and home of Jacopone is the Temple of San Fortunato where his remains lie, one can admire the impressive XIIth century gothic construction and the monument erected in 1930 by the townsfolk to honour his spiritual and moral heritage. A key step of the itnerary is the house where Jacopone lived, according to tradition, after having married Vanna de' Collemedio nin the ancient Church of Sant'Ilario e delle Fontane di Scarnabecco. Over the remains of this home was erected towards the end of the XVIth century the palazzo Pongelli-Benedettoni. The noblemen's quarters (for the first time accessible to the public) were decorated with scenes of the life and times of God's jester. Persuing down Corso Cavour we reach the final stage of the itinerary, the Church of Santa Maria in Cammuccia, where, upon close observation of the wooden sculptures of the late XIIth century representing the Madonna and Child, one can better understand the complex symbolic lanugage used by the author of the "Stabat mater".
