- "THE FACILITIES OF AN AGRITURISMO ... WITH THE FREEDOM OF YOUR OWN HOME !" -

Surrounded by a park of 5 acres with swimming pool and ancient standing stones of our archaeological area, overlooking the spectacular mountains of the two National Parks of Abruzzo (the "Green Region of Europe" facing on the sea), inspired by charming medieval villages where everything is proudly preserved as a time ... !

Our farmstay is a characteristic 17th century coaching inn with some bronze aged menhir and remains of Roman columns. The grounds are 22 acres (9 hectares) of farmland at 200 m. above sea level and boasts landscapes of the surrounding mountains. Half an hour from the international airport of Pescara (with lots of low cost flights to many european cities), the sea and only 1,5 hours drive from Rome (with a direct bus, 1 km far away for the stop, which brings you there in only 2 hours paying 10 €).

The farm holiday has seven apartments (large, medium, small) built within the ancient structures of the farm, for a total of 20/25 beds, fully equipped and renovated, preserving its antique furnishings and te typical atmosphere of the place. Each one is independent and has a own entrance and private outdoor space. Each flat has a bathroom, living room with kitchenette (fully equipped), 1 or 2 bedrooms, terrace or balcony with outdoor furniture.

The main characteristic of the country holiday is its geographical position ideally situated for excursions. So this is an ideal place for families and for those who aim to visit the territory with its incredibly preserved culture, nature, beaches, historical towns and monuments.

Our farmhouse is organized according to the formula of "residence" agritourism, is designed to offer guests the experience of staying in an authentic country house for dinner by candlelight on the lawn in front of the house, or stroll through the romantic spots the large park surrounding the two buildings, just relaxing by the pool enjoying the view across the beautiful mountain scenery or, instead, actively discovering the charm of this land for a day trip to the mountains of National Parks, the sea or picturesque villages "embedded "in a beautiful and extremely varied nature.

We tried to offer to our guests "privacy" and the greatest possible autonomy, giving them the ability to move freely and without time; we are always ready, however, to suggest tours to 360 degrees and maybe, if you want, to let you "dive" into the most popular tourist circuits, or into the secret places of Abruzzo, the best way to discover the 'heart' of this ancestral region.

The Abruzzo region

Abruzzo, or "Abruzzi" according to old, is a special region in many ways.

First is called "the green area of Europe" for the highest percentage of land protected by Parks and Reserves (even as much as 33% of the territory is bound, the highest percentage in Europe).

Second, the high mountains, including the three highest peaks of the Apennines and the perennial glacier most southern of Europe, are very close to the sea that in some seasons you can go for a swim in the morning and afternoon, in just 45 minutes, go skiing in the mountains! Although this factor has contributed to its rich biodiversity (one of the major in Europe), being able to vary from landscapes of the coast, with palm trees and Mediterranean vegetation, to the high mountain, with alpine stars and glacial relicts like the "Mugo" pine or rare animals.

Even from a geomorphological point of view the territory manifests deep diversity. Consequently, the mountains are very different from them, as well as ancient villages built by the man which, using materials found on site, greatly changes its architecture and building styles within a few minutes. In just a short time everything is different: nature, villages, traditions and customs, ancient economic activities.

Another prerogative of the area is the extreme preservation and attachment to its own traditions and rituals of the people who live "separated" from the various valleys, along the coast or in the villages at high altitudes, thanks to the pastoral economy that pushed the economy and the wealth on top since the Middle Ages ... . Even today in some areas seems to live life scenes or ancestral rites medieval, almost always actually of pagan origin and pre-Roman times. The people of Abruzzo, notoriously conservative and obstinate pride, jealously preserve and perpetuate their traditions not for turistic re-enactments ... but as they feel those deep inside.

You will realize that the beauty of this region lies not only in its monuments, in its particularly wild and varied nature, in the exceptional biodiversity of flora and fauna, but especially in the way in which traditions, customs, ways of life, ancient cultures and religious rites were preserved.

Your hosts are the de Pompeis family, which has a long and proud history in Abruzzo. We are deeply involved in local culture and with care we have managed this farmstay for over thirty years, as part of the family estate.

We are delighted to assist our guests with their itineraries, arrange for guides and advise on local cultural and naturalistic itineraries, in addition to restaurants, sports activities, local artisan and folklore traditional festivals.

Tocco da Casauria

The farmhouse is nestled between the mountains of two of the largest national parks in Europe, the "Majella" and the "Gran Sasso", just in the heart of the “green zone of Europe”, but only 30 minutes drive from the sea. The main characteristic of the farm is its geographical position and very convenient road links; ideally situated for excursions throughout this region of outstanding natural beauty and 15/30 minutes away from nature sports centres, nearby typical villages and medieval monuments.

Pescara is the capital, located on the sandy beach, it is just 30 minutes drive away and has an international airport with direct flights, mostly low cost, from several European capitals (see: www.abruzzo-airport.it).

Rome is 90 minutes by car.

The local restaurant is just 400m down the road and offers discount contracted rates to the guests.
