The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Montagrier is situated on the River Dronne, South-west of France in the Périgord Vert. The area is quite hilly but with spectacular views. If you are sportive there is a renowned cross-country cycling centre in Montagrier or, of course, you can spend the day canoeing along the river or just take a picnic and enjoy the peace and calm. There are many festivals in Summer including the Jazz Festival and the Mimos (Mime and theatre) Festival. The Périgord is renowned for its good food (and of course wines) and you can also visit the farms where the famous foie gras is made and of course the vineyards a bit further afield in Bergerac and Bordeaux.

Tocane St Apre

Montagrier is a very small village of some 500 people. Its Church is set on the hilltop and there are still the old fortifications present. Nowadays it is a sleepy village with its traditional bar/restaurant/epicerie.
