Completely re-furbished to bring out its original features, this cottage by the sea, has exposed stone walls with original fireplaces.

Quirky artwork and an eclectic library means that this little house offers more than a bland holiday apartment.

The island provides fantastic opportunities to explore the natural environment - otters can be seen in the harbour, there are boat trips to see whales and dolphins, and landrover wildlife tours to see stags, seals and sea eagles.

There is plenty of history, with castles, churches and stone circles, and a rich cultural calendar provided by the Mull Theatre, An Tobar Arts Centre and numerous arts groups and festivals.

If it rains, the house itself has a fully equipped kitchen in which to perfect your culinary skills, and the Co-op is a few doors away in case you need more ingredients.

One twin-bedded room is designed for children, with a dolls house.

The accommodation caters for four adults comfortably although two children could be added to that number. It is not ideal for very young children as there is no bath (just two showers).

Access requires climbing 12 outside steps and all sleeping accommodation is upstairs, so it is not suitable for those unable to climb stairs.

China and high quality cotton sheets and towels provide a country -house feel in a seaside cottage. you can have it all!

The Hebrides region

Toll a Balla is a seafront property in the middle of picturesque Tobermory harbour.

The Isle of Mull is in the Inner Hebrides and has been visited over the last two centuries by artists. musicians and poets for its romantic settings and spectacular scenery.

Follow in the footsteps of Mendelssohn, Turner, Wordsworth and Keats.

It is not as cold as you would expect as it is warmed by the Gulf Stream - it rarely snows and as Tobermory is on the east side of the island it is sheltered from the worst of the rain that blows in from the Atlantic.


There is plenty to do - Whale and dolphin watching, wildlife tours to see nesting sea eagles. There are otters in the bay and the famous ginger Tobermory cat can often be seen in our garden - escaping from his fans.

Bikes can be hired from Browns the ironmongers. There is much to see of historical interest - get your bearings from the local museum about 100 yards away along the Main Street.

Within walking distance there is a distillery,a chocolate factory, an ice-cream shop, a bakery and a cheese farm - what more does anyone need.

I am sorry you found the house 'damp'.
There is no mains gas on the island, so we have to use storage heating. This involves knowing a day in advance if you are gong to need them.
During the winter, I leave them on permanently, but thought they wouldn't be necessary in August! The woodburning stove (which can use coal from the Co-op) was intended to cover the need to heat the house quickly.
I have asked Zoe (who does changeovers for me) to ensure the radiators are on the day before visitors are expected. I hope the weather did not spoil your holiday.

I have sent a copy to Zoe who cleans for me, as I know she does a very good job of keeping the house in good order. I have had 25 sets of visitors since I started letting the house last year, so it gets a lot of use.
