The West Country / Cornwall region
Come to North Cornwall and enjoy 60 miles of dramatic Atlantic Heritage Coast - cliffs, coves, market towns, farmsteads and enchanting Bodmin Moor, Country Houses and Historic castles including King Arthur's Tintagel. From Bude to Bedruthan there's golf, walking, cycling, quality eateries to suit all budgets and events all year round.
The Tintagel area
SURFERS: Newquay is dubbed the UK’s Mecca for surfers and hosts a number of national and international surfing competitions. There are a number of surfing schools in the local area and Trebarwith Strand (3 miles away) is perfect for the body boarders amongst you.
WALKERS: Exposure to westerly storms and pounding surf has given rise to the famously dramatic scenery of Cornwall’s north coast, a landscape carved and sculpted by the sea, and made all the more exciting by the numerous tales of smuggling and wrecking that abound in her coves and caves. Walking the fifty or so miles of coast path between Portreath and Padstow, with its steep cliffs and endless granite steps, while definitely not for the faint hearted, is a richly rewarding experience.
GOLFERS: Golfing in North Cornwall offers many and varied types of fairway to tempt you out into the fresh air. From coastal golf courses like St Enodoc, Bude and Trevose to the inland golf courses such as St Kew, Bowood , Lanhydrock and Launceston. All the golf courses in North Cornwall offer excellent facilities and of course the stunning scenery alone is enough to get you out there.
BEACH LAYABOUTS:
Bossiney Haven. A hidden treasure of a sandy cove which is completely covered by high tide. Access to the beach is via steep steps which are not suitable for wheel chairs or push chairs.
Bude. A large seaside resort with an excellent beach called Summerleaze which includes a free tidal swimming pool.
Crackington Haven. A large sandy beach with plenty of rock pools and a slipway to the beach. There are excellent views from the 400 foot cliffs.
This is just a small selection, your choices are almost limitless!

We wanted a quiet and private place for our base as we discovered the Cornish coast and that's exactly what we got. The cottage is furnished to a high standard, very clean and self contained. Jo the owner was very welcoming and makes great 'welcome' cookies. Given it's location it's incredibly quiet...perfect for a good nights sleep. |

The Old Workshop lived up to our expectations. It is a really lovely property, quaint from the outside and modern in the inside. The setting is stunning, the peace - glorious and we felt right at home, despite the autumn weather. The cream tea was a very nice, thoughtful touch from the owners which really makes you feel as though you are "at home". Jo and Gavin are around if you have questions but are unobtrusive, leaving you to your own devices unless they can assist with questions. Something we really appreciated. We had one really wet and wild day where we just snuggled down in the cottage and read our books, for the entire day...what a luxury. We loved the location, finding it quite central for the many amazing sites we wanted to visit. We never ran out of things to go and see or do, in fact we ran out of time to do it all. Bosworth and Tintagel were at the top of our list, and we spent quite a bit of time there. We went to Padstow - which we found a little too "touristy" for our tastes but is obviously a big hit with other tourists. Wadebridge was lovely and we found a great Tea Room for lunch. We would recommend this cottage to anyone who enjoys their privacy, the comfort of home, in an area that allows exploration and a sense of history. There's no need to cook, unless you desparately want to, as there are boundless options in the area. We would definitely go back, one week wasn't enough to do everything we wanted to do. |

We stayed here for 2 weeks and we had a lovely time. The cottage is clean and much more spacious than it looks on the photo's. The view out of the back window is gorgeous and there is a BBQ too if the weather is nice. Jo and Gavin were on hand if we needed anything and they are both lovely and friendly. It's a perfect little place to relax in, and is also very near to some good walks and beautiful beaches. |
