"Comfy in the Courtyard"
Courtyard Cottage was a good rental from the start. We stayed there during the Easter holidays - myself, my partner, and two of our children: 15, and 7 years old. Correspondence with Hattie, the owner, via email, was always very quick, and any queries that I had before out visit were speedily answered.
Courtyard Cottage is located in the heart of Dorset. It is situated in a group of buildings attached to a large manor house. The main building has been lots of things in its history, including a school, and I would imagine that these smaller dwellings attached to it were probably servants quarters. Courtyard Cottage overlooks a small courtyard (surprise!), which is surrounded by about 8 other cottages, some lets, some residential.
Once inside, the cottage was traditional but with all the mod cons that you could wish for, including wifi, which meant a happy teen! It was also spotlessly clean. There is a well equipped kitchen, and lovely lounge diner, a downstairs bathroom, and two well sized bedroom upstairs. The lounge has patio doors that open onto the most marvellous shared garden. Don't be put off by the shared aspect. You have your own little patio, then there is a formal section, then an long expanse of lawn and trees, with a fantastic view at the bottom onto farmland. Big enough for a good game of cricket! During our stay we didn't see anyone else in the grade, so it felt like all ours!
The cottage is ideally situated for exploring Dorset. We had a lovely week at the Courtyard and would happily return again.

Our second stay at the Courtyard, myself, husband and young daughter. It is a very special place-several times over our two week stay, we just spent the day in the magical garden, playing games and reading and picnicking. The location is amazing, yet only a few minutes drive from Dorcester, and a short hop from the Isle of Purbeck and the NT beach at Studland Bay. It is very well equipped and exceedingly comfortable. A real gem!
*i am disabled with mobility problems. There are stairs to the bedrooms, with the bathroom on the ground floor. I found the stairs easier to manage than my stairs at home, as they are relatively shallow, but it depends on the nature of the individual's disability, I suppose.
