About the home

Located by the pistes in Tignes Val Claret (the highest part of Tignes), Chalet Club 3 is a perfectly positioned base for any ski/snowboard trip.

The accommodation is basic but honest and clean, it's a place to rest your weary head after a great day of snow action and following an evening's cheese eating!

As you enter the apartment there are bunk beds, sleeping two and a good-sized cupboard. There is a bathroom with shower, sink and tolilet. The adjoining 'main' room has a sofa which doubles as a single bed, and beneath the sofa is another pop-up single bed; which can make a double or a second single bed, as required.

There is a door between the bunk room and the living room, but to call the apartment a two bedroom is a little over-selling the space. But, it kind-of is two bedrooms.

There is a fridge, with small freezer, a small sink and a double electric hob, plus a microwave oven.

A small table and seating are positioned by the window/glass balcony door. The apartment has a tv and dvd, although the tv does not pick up local television (so it's DVDs only I'm afraid). We had put a nintendo in the apartment, although it seems to have gone walkabaouts sadly, hopefully it will turn up!

There's a nice little balcony that looks up on the village behind the apartment. It's also useful to look out in the mornings to see when the lifts have started up the mountain.

Conditions

A deposit [refundable] is required on booking - just in case anything gets broken or damaged by guests. When property has been checked out on your departure - it's refunded straight away if all is ok.

We ask that people smoke on the balcony only, this is for the consideration of people who will let after your rent.

As the apartment is small it is likely that pets could also have the potential to be unpleasant for subsiquent visitors, and therefore we'd rather not let to guests with their dog/cat.

The property has a step at the very front, and then there is lift access to the apartment. However, I think it would lack the required width for wheel chair access.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

Tignes is one of Europe's finest ski resorts, and is the highest in the French Alps; meaning great snow! Along with Val d'Isere, Tignes makes up the huge expanse of the 'Espace Killy' ski area, which [apparently] is so big that if you put all the pistes end-to-end it would reach from London to Manchester!

Tignes is a collection of small villages, the highest of which is called 'Val Claret' and is where most of the ski lifts are located; luckily our apartment is in Tignes Val Claret, so everything is wonderful!

Our apartment is located in Val Claret, the highest part of Tignes at 2100 metres, and where the slopes are; it's located brilliantly for the lifts and pistes.

The apartment is really well placed for the restaurants and bars in Val Claret. It is possible to catch a free bus from close to outside the flat which takes you to Le Lac, for other entertainment.

In the SUMMER ONLY there's a golf course, lake and the area is good for walking and moutain biking. You can still go up to the glacier with ski gear, but this is restricted to certain times, so check first.

In the winter it's SNOW SNOW SNOW!

TRAIN:
Snowtrain overnight from London to Bourg St Maurice. Bourg is 25 mins drive from Tignes, buses and taxis easy to arrange. Try www.loco2.co.uk, SBB train planner, or RailEurope, Or Eurostar.

BUS TRANSFER:
AltiBus from Geneva Airport (€106 return in Jan 2012). Really smooth service.

“Ideal if you are looking for an economical holiday in the heart of Tignes” Exactly as advertised, no space is wasted! We went as a couple who shared the pull out sofa in the sitting area and two mates who used the bunk beds. Plenty of room for our kit and beers on the balcony and it was easy to clean up the kitchen! Access to the slopes and shops is unbeatable, parking outside was easy too. Would definitely go back and have recommended it to friends going this winter.
