The Devon region
The surrounding areas have various attractions. Kingsbridge offers many restaurants including a Spanish tapas bar. Steak house, and an Indian restaurant. The leisure centre provides a varied programme of activities. Various banks, a launderette, cinema and supermarkets. Neighbouring village of South Milton has a fish restaurant on the beach. Slightly further away Salcombe boasts a huge choice of eateries, various ferries, sailing facilities, Overbecks gardens. Closer to home The Sloop at Bantham is great for good pub grub and in Bantham village a ferry service crossing the estuary to Cockle Ridge. Burgh Island reached by walking the causeway when the tide is out or using the sea tractor. The Pilchard Inn an old smugglers inn offers coffee and light bites but the art deco hotel is strictly residents only, however a walk to the top of the island rewards with fabulous views out to sea. Occasionally seals are present and it has been known for dolphins to be seen in the bay. Bantham is very popular with surfers and wind surfers. Privately owned by Evans Estates dogs are not allowed on the main section of beach.
The choice of good beaches are excellent. Some very close to home and easily walked to,some a few minutes in the car. Bantham beach is overlooked at a distance from the bungalow. This is easily driven to approx 3 minutes in the car up and down steep hills. Parking fees are applicable for the day. It is a beautiful white sand beach with life guards in the summer months. The tide ebbs to leave huge rock pools. Minimal catering facilities. Wc available in the car park.
Thurlestone Is a great place to play both Golf and Tennis. The course is located on the beautiful South Hams of Devon and runs along The coast of Bigbury Bay. The course is a mix of links and cliff top terrain with the latter providing fabulous views towards Bolt Tail in the east to beyond Plymouth to the west , with Burgh Island and the Avon Estuary being the highlight for most people. As well as an 18 Hole Links Golf Course of some quality the Club House also boasts grass courts , hard Courts and 3 Beaches. The Course is well draining and rarely suffers from frost so rarely closed due to bad weather. Within approx 1 mile of the bungalow. Superb views of coast line throughout the course. Regarded as one of the finest courses in the South Hams

"A superb bungalow in an excellent location"
What a fabulous bungalow this is! Beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean and with every amenity you could wish for provided by the owner. The views from the garden over Bantham Bay and Bigbury are very special and afforded me the opportunity to view sea, beach and fields. in the evening I sat with a glass of wine and watched the sun disappear over the hill. Magnificent!
Apart from hearing a distant tractor and mooing cows, there was perfect peace - just what I needed to recharge my soul. I would recommend Peacehaven to anyone who wants stylish, comfortable accommodation with the bonus of great scenery.
Thank you for your review on our property in Thurlestone. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope we can welcome you again in the future.
