The Yorkshire region
Renowned for it's scenery, history and friendly people, North Yorkshire is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year. York is a major tourist attraction with it's mediaeval walls and Minster. Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are all easy accessible on the coast with each having their own character. The Dalby Forest can be reached on foot from the cottage and is host to many activities including walking, cycling and astronomy! Within a short drive is Castle Howard, recently voted one of the world's top ten mansions, Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum and for the children, a great day out at Flamingoland. Pickering and Malton are fabulous towns with individual shops and attractions. There are farm shops and tearooms galore - can you resist??
Thornton Le Dale has so much history dating back to Neolithic man. It has been voted one of the prettiest villages in the UK and the thatched cottage on the beck is one of the most photographed houses and has featured on many a chocolate box. The village has an annual show in August and the Christmas light switch on attracts thousands of visitors. Pickering has a castle and is home to the annual October war week end which becomes more popular every year. Open air concerts are held every summer in the Dalby Forest and can be reached on foot to beat the traffic.

We stayed here whilst my husband took part in forrest rally. The house was excellent very clean and spacious, lovely kitchen. We had a van and trailer so the Lovely pub, think it was the sun inn acros… More
Many thanks for your kind review and we are pleased that you enjoyed your week end and glad that you managed to arrange parking at the New Inn. As advised, the village only has one main car park and access to the cottage was formed in the days of the horse and cart and although is it not ideal, it can accommodate commercial vehicles up to Transit van size. We were sorry to hear you had problems with a lack of heating as we were not aware of this. All controls for the heating are explained in our welcome information which is sent to each guest and is also available within the cottage. We are always available to take guest calls either on our land line or mobile and a quick phone call would have had you toasty! We hope this did not spoil your stay.

"fantastic place to stay"
A wonderful cottage that had easily the best equipped kitchen we have experienced.
The cottage was warm and cosy and the location and village absolutely delightful.
Getting through the archway into the drive took skill and care but really was no trouble after the second or third attempt.
Really well priced and great value for money.
thoroughly enjoyed our time in beautiful Nth Yorkshire.
Many thanks for your very kind review and we are really pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We have put a lot of effort into making the cottage comfortable and try to improve it year on year.
Regrettably, we can't do anything about the arch is it was built in the days of the coach & horses hence the reason we advise clients beforehand in our welcome info pack. The locals have a lovely colloquilism for the arch/passage which is not for public consumption but certainly adds to the character of the area!
Bet the weather is warmer now you're back home!
Would love to have you back as guests the next time you are over.

"good quality and spacious accomodation"
Had a great stay......2 minor issues - another bathroom / toilet would have been helpful with there being 6 Adults and the Bunk Beds in the 3rd bedroom were not ideal!! But we coped and it certainly didn't spoil our stay!! Thank you
Many thanks for your kind review and constructive comments. We do have future plans to enlarge the first floor and provide an en-suite. We have now amended the description to ensure that adult only parties are aware of the bathroom and bunk bedroom restrictions.

"Better than a home away from home!"
Loved our short stay at this cottage! The place is super comfy - I was quite content to just stay in the house all day with its great toilet and kitchen. Owners Andrew and Carole are super hospitable too.
This cottage makes for the ultimate relaxing holiday. Will definitely go back there again, and would recommend it to friends and family.
