Teach Carraig is gaelic for rock house and is an outhouse/barn converted in 2013 to a stone cottage. Nestling in the hills above the Arigle river in rural Kilkenny, it is a haven of tranquillity with a beautiful valley view . This cottage combines a classic rustic structure with internal 4 star comfort renovated to a high standard. The cosy and comfortable interior, which includes a wood burning stove,has charm tastefully combined with modern comfort. The cottage is situated 5 miles from the Norman town of Thomastown, within 5 miles of picturesque Inistioge, within 25 minutes drive of both Waterford and Kilkenny and just 8 miles from the M9 Motorway . It is perfectly positioned for exploring the sunny south east of Ireland. Dublin and Cork are within 2 hours and Rosslare within 50 minutes.

Ideal for anyone wanting to get away from it all in an idyllic rural setting or Kilkenny city is within reach for those wanting a bit more buzz. Sleeping accommodation for 4 guests in configuration of king size bed, two singles or double (as chosen by guests). One bedroom is downstairs with a wet room nearby and suitable for less mobile guests, but has some 4 steps within the ground floor. The king size bedroom is upstairs with bathroom (with bath) nearby. Garden partially closed off, with one side being the drive in from owners property.
Children are catered for including all equipment for younger ones to dvd & wi-fi for older children. 2 pets allowed. Private parking for 2 cars. Transport to and from Thomastown can be provided for up to 3 nights of your stay up until midnight at a nominal price. Babysitting can be provided at a reasonable rate up until midnight. We can help with itinerary planning in advance so as you don't have to. Adjoining owners' farmhouse, who are available to provide all help and support needed by our guests.

It is sufficiently close to Waterford and Kilkenny to provide medieval heritage, culture, activities and shopping for crafts, food and evenings entertainment in narrow historic streets. It is a perfect base from which to explore the sunny south east for families and enthusiasts of walking, angling, cycling, heritage, food, crafts and music.
There are many heritage sites in the south east including nearby Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny Castle, Heritage Park Wexford, Cathedrals, Dunbrody Famine Ship New Ross, Rock of Cashel Tipperary to delve into history. Garden enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with nearby Woodstock (Inistioge), nearby Kilfane Glen, nearby Mount Juliet, Johnstown Castle gardens Wexford, Kennedy Aboretum New Ross.
