There are many heritage sites in the south east including nearby Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny Castle, Heritage Park Wexford, Cathedrals, Dunbrody Famine Ship New Ross, Rock of Cashel Tipperary to delve into history. Garden enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with nearby Woodstock (Inistioge), nearby Kilfane Glen, nearby Mount Juliet, Johnstown Castle gardens Wexford, Kennedy Aboretum New Ross.

A varied selection of family activities are on offer in the south east including Hook Lighthouse, Castlecomer Park with tree top walking, nearby Kiltorcan karting, Dunmore caves, Gowran reptile zoo, pitch & putt, tennis, horse riding and kayaking.

Racing in Gowran park is popular in the region. A selection of golf courses are available to choose from. Angling is well established with licenses available for visitors in Thomastown. Walkers will struggle to choose between the many routes on offer in the region, within a 15 mile radius.
