Home description
Our apartment is very spacious. We have a huge, furnished living /dining space with incredible views from the 2 sets of French windows and balcony over Lac Leman (Geneva), the largest lake in Europe.
Plus a designer kitchen to prepare dinner while enjoying a glass of wine with friends. All home comforts including unique "coffee table 3-D map", hand-carved chess-set and extensive library of books and games will make the evenings a little more entertaining. With 4 bedrooms with balconies overlooking the mountains, 8 can sleep comfortably - without the need for bunk/sofa beds. There are 2 bathrooms with bath and shower facilities. Thollon is the perfect place for winter and summer holidays...

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Within easy reach (45 mins) of the largest ski area in Europe - the Portes de Soleil with famous resorts such as Morzine and Avoriaz. The region covers 14 valleys stretched out over France (Haute-Savoie) and Switzerland (The Valais). It offers 650 kilometres of slopes, more than 200 ski-lifts, 243 km of cross-country skiing and 9 snowparks.
In summer, there is pool and safe lake swimming at the fantastic outdoor Centre Nautique, white-water rafting the Dranse, water sports on the lake, fishing, golf at the Evian Championship course, gambling at Evian’s famous casino and well-being sessions at the world famous Evian Spa.
Culture: Evian (10 mins), elegant lakeside town from the Belle Époque with lakeside walks, Evian water visitor centre, casino, spa, outdoor swimming, shops, cafes, bars, safe play areas, beautiful gardens and fountains. Geneva (60 mins) with shops, theatres, museums, parks, festivals. Medieval Lausanne across the lake fantastic for sights and shopping. Montreaux (20 mins), music festivals, ancient Chateau Chillon. Yvoire (20 mins) - Traffic free medieval village, now a World Heritage Site
Thollon les Memises area
Direct access to 50km downhill piste with 14 individual pistes & 18 ski lifts plus snowboarding. There's a good mix of easy to difficult runs available and an excellent ESF ski school with english speaking instructors available, next to the telecabine. The best views in the Alps we have ever seen.
Cable car operates summer too - go to the top for the most amazing views of Lac Leman and enjoy a drink in the ski station cafe. Plus hiking, tennis, biking and parapenting (to the back of the apartment! and over Lac Leman). There is a small lake just 10 minutes away, with aerial runway, diving boards, table tennis, BBQ and cafe.
How to get there
About 8 hour drive from Calais (inc. stops) - straight run. Flights to Geneva airport with Easyjet from UK airports flights to Lyon from UK airports. Pick up car hire on French side of Geneva airport. (Swiss side is easier but about 10% more). Easy 1 hr drive from Geneva - we can supply map (new Thonon bypass now open). Alternatively take the train (at Geneva airport) and boat to Evian Les Bains via Lausanne and then a short taxi ride to Thollon Les Memises. Or, we can give you number of taxi for direct transfer from Geneva to apartment.

Further details outdoors: There is a safe lawned area to the rear of the apartment, ideal for sledging in winter and children's games or sunbathing in summer. (The 3 south facing balconies are suntraps in the summer)
We also have an allocated parking space and a garage. Fantastic walks can be started from the door - details of walks for all abilities available from Tourist info and in the apartment.

A secure garage is available on request (but there is a reserved outdoor parking space for you for free).
A secure basement cave for skis, bikes etc is provided.
This is our second home, so there are lots of cooking essentials: herbs, sauces, tea bags, coffee etc. which you are free to use. A starter pack of other essential groceries are available as extra, on request.
Conditions
Smokers are welcome. All we ask is you smoke on the balconies, not in the apartment. There are large ashtrays on them (plantpots to put out the stubs). Please don't put them anywhere else!
Refundable breakages deposit required on arrival, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
25% of rental fee due on booking to secure booking.
Remainder of rental fee due eight weeks before your stay.
There is a lift in the apartment building providing wheelchair access
