The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
The village of Thollon-les-Mémises lies in eastern France in the French Alps. It is a pretty village in the most traditional Alpine style, and views are stunning whether it is winter or summer. The village is known as the Balcony of the Léman, due to its location overlooking the beautiful Lake Geneva. The views from Thollon-les-Mémises are so glorious that they are actually mentioned in the Michelin Guide, which is quite an accolade for such a small village!
Down on the lakeside, Geneva, Montreaux and Lausanne are all reachable within the hour, by car or boat. The spa town of Evian (10 minute drive) has numerous beaches, an outdoor swimming complex, play areas, golf, boating, outdoor markets and, of course, the thermal spa and casino. It also has some excellent restaurants. Also close by, on the Swiss Lakeside, is the ‘Vapeur Park’, (model railway) large Aquaparc, zoo and Labyrinth park to name but a few. There really is so much to do in the surrounding area, yet it is also very easy to sit back and do little but enjoy the views, with local cheese and wine!
Thollon les Memises area
Thollon les Memises is a quiet and really friendly mountain village, with family run restaurants and bars. It has a very helpful tourist information office who can arrange ski lessons (private or with the ski school), kindergarten places, and has walking route maps and information on all events. The local skiing is ideal for young families and beginners with 16 lifts, including a new run leading directly to the village. Ski hire and lockers are available in the village. For the more adventurous skier, Bernex, Porte de Soleil (Chatel) and Verbier are all within easy reach for day trips.
The village is noted for its warm and friendly approach to life, and it extends a warm welcome to visitors and new inhabitants too. Thollon-les-Mémises is a tranquil place, far removed from the stresses and strains of everyday life. But it is not the land that time forgot either, as it offers a supermarket for your daily needs, and better still, a variety of family friendly bars and excellent restaurants. The Haute-Savoie has a gastronomy of which it is very proud, and you will have no problems finding delicious traditional dishes on the menu.

There is a fesitival to celebrate Christmas in the village Local market every Thursday Bus to Evian every morning.
How to get there

The views from Thollon-les-Mémises are so glorious that they are actually mentioned in the Michelin Guide, "Thollon-Les-Mémises is a village-resort with a family atmosphere which enjoys privileged panoramic views over Lake Leman (Geneva), where your future holiday destination is described as "The most beautiful observatory of Leman". Cradled on the plateau, the village is a veritable "Balcony over Leman" at an altitude of 1000 m.
The ski resort of Thollon les Mémises is situated in the Chablais area of the Haute-Savoie department in the Northern Alps region. The lift served area extends from 1000 metres to 2000 metres. There are 50 km of lift served runs. There are 6 km of cross country trails.
Its location is hugely advantageous compared to that of most mountain resorts. Up-market Geneva is 50 minutes away; a time that will be reduced by 15 minutes when the new Thonon by-pass is completed later this year! Its International Airport serves all regions in the UK and elsewhere in Europe with dozens of (many low-cost) flights daily, enabling easy access to Thollon les Memises.
There are trains from Geneva airport to Evian which take about 1 hour. Arrangements can be made to pick you up from the train station if required.
Just consider the wonderful selection of internationally-renowned French & Swiss resorts around the lake, Montreux, Lausanne etc, all within easy reach –the Swiss border is only 20 minutes drive away – offering excellent all-year-round facilities. In summer, spring & autumn the towns & villages with their varied and beautiful attractions and beaches are unique & great fun to explore. Our nearest town is the world-famous floral spa town of Evian-les-Bains, just 15 minutes ‘down the mountain.’ It has endless spa, cultural and sporting facilities including a championship golf-course, excellent sailing and beaches.
Once in Evian, there is a road that leads directly up to Thollon les memises which takes about 15 minutes.

We have 3 apartments which can be rented together for groups of up to 12 people. They can also be rented separately. Each apartment can sleep 4 people. (2 in the bedroom and 2 on the sofa bed in the living room area). Please contact us for further information.
