Chalet Serenite is situated in the centre of the friendly Haute Savoie village of Thollon Les Memises with incredilbe views of the largest lake in Europe and the mountains (les memises) directly behind. In the winter it's an ideal location for family skiing with the telecabine to the top, for the skiing, just 50metres away and the main run back to the village ending at our driveway! There's a good mix of easy to difficult runs available and an excellent ESF ski school with english speaking instructors available, next to the telecabine. For the more adventurous, it's also within easy reach of the largest ski area in Europe - the Portes de Soleil. In the summer, life is very relaxed and warm. The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
The Alps is Frances third most popular tourist region, following Paris and the Cote d’Azur and is Europe’s largest mountain range. The Haute Savoie region gives its name to the Savoyard people and also the regional style of cooking, which includes Fondue and Raclette – melted cheese with potatoes and cold meats – delicious after a long days walking or skiing.
For those who like to explore this is the perfect place to locate yourself. On the edge of the Portes du Soliel, you have available one of the largest winter sport areas in the world. The region covers 14 valleys stretched out over France (Haute-Savoie) and Switzerland (The Valais). It offers 650 kilometres of slopes, more than 200 ski-lifts, 243 km of cross-country skiing and 9 snowparks.
Thollon les Memises area
Beautiful mountain and lake scenery, Michelin guide recommended for views over Lake Geneva and the spa town of Evian les Bains.
A real Savoyard village located between 1000-2000m, between Lake Geneva and the Memises mountains. Restauarants in the village and surrounding area offering traditional Savoyarde recipes, cheese making in the area. Highly recommend is a visit to the Evian Spa, take the boat to Lausanne and visit the Olympic museum, or Montreaux, the home of Queen pop group. In the nearby valleys white water rafting and canoing is available, horse riding in the village, and parapenting. Mountain bikes are also available for hire in the Village.
Around Lake Geneva there are numerous places of intereset to explore by road or boat. These include Evian, Thonnon and the medieval village of Yvoire, on the French side of the lake, and Lausanne, Montreaux and Geneva, on the Swiss side.
During the summer months the cable-car takes hikers and paragliders to an altitude of 1600 meters. Other activities in and around the village include tennis, fishing, horse riding, golf, mountain biking & water sports. You can find water skiing, diving and sailing at the lakeside, with lessons if required.
How to get there
Fly to Geneva (Easyjet, BA, Swissair) Transfers by us at competitive rates. Approx 75mins to Thollon. Car hire available in airport. Train to Lausanne (Switzerland) directly from airport (30mins), bus to Lausanne boat port (2mins), boat across lake to Evian(30mins). This is available as single ticket from Geneva airport. Followed by taxi or transfer by us (cheaper than taxi) from Evian to Thollon (15mins)
