Wheelhouse Cottage is a brick built barn conversion, situated one mile from Sowerby near to Thirsk in the Vale of Mowbray. The cottage sleeps six and has three bedrooms - two king size doubles and one twin. Close by is the market town of Thirsk, which has many amenities that will suit all tastes, plus with both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks nearby, there are numerous walking opportunities. The village of Sowerby with its number of pubs is situated just half a mile away from the market town of Thirsk. Thirsk has wonderful Georgian buildings, a Norman church and many amenities, including pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and leisure centre. One of the main attractions in the town is the excellent World of James Herriott Museum, which is dedicated to the life and works of the famous vet. The Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North York Moors National Park to the east both offer wonderful scenery and many walks. Further afield is the historic city of York, which has many attractions and amenities, plus the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough.
