Situated on a very private corner stand with ample parking and a separate flat, Edgewater Cottage comfortably sleeps eight guests in tastefully decorated, en suite bedrooms – all with comfortable, high quality beds. All bedrooms are fitted with under floor heating, ceiling fans and television sets, while the bathrooms all feature heated towel rails and electricity points, with linen and towels provided.
The outside entertainment area features a fire pit, Jacuzzi, pool and braai facilities. While the property is north facing, it is very private, allowing guests to make the most of these facilities in comfort and at leisure. A covered dining area can be sheltered from the elements by rolling down the see-through blinds, and seamlessly integrates the outside entertainment area with the inside living space.
The stylish, open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge offer under floor heating with a fireplace to take the edge off the cold and to create that perfect romantic atmosphere. The full kitchen offers filtered drinking water, refrigerator with ice and water on demand, a gas hob with electric oven, a microwave oven, dishwasher, a washing machine and clothes dryer. The television set in the living area as well as those in the bedrooms are connected to the Premium HD DSTV offering and a DVD player is available downstairs. Wireless connectivity to the Internet may also be arranged.
The deck on the south side of the house guarantees hours leisurely spent fishing or relaxing in the sun, with a gazebo begging for friends to enjoy a sun downer or two – even when the sun doesn't shine, as clear roller blinds allow enjoyment of this area in all weather conditions. The floating jetty ensures that boatmen will be able to access it in any tide, and the complimentary canoes are waiting to be taken out for a paddle while an outside shower with warm water will welcome weary and wet paddlers back home.
A guest water closet and king en suite room complete the ground level. The comfortable staircase in the double volume entrance leads to a deck with a swing chair from which to enjoy the view of the pool and the rest of the island. Two private, en suite king bedrooms complete the upper level. The king beds downstairs and in the second bedroom on the upper level may both be split to offer two twin beds per room.
The large deck outside the separate flat overlooks the outside entertainment area, while the flat itself offers an open plan kitchenette and lounge with DSTV. The comfortable queen bedroom features under floor heating while the en suite offers a bath with a handheld shower.
Edgewater Cottage offers the best that exclusive Thesen Islands has to offer: luxury, comfort and privacy.

The Western Cape region
Knysna has long been known as the jewel of the South Africa's Garden Route, and was chosen as Conde Nast Travel readers' second favourite city in Africa at the end of 2012. The temperate climate, awe-inspiring natural beauty of the surrounding areas and the friendly people have crept into the hearts of travellers the world over, making Knysna the destination of choice for local and international visitors.
If you're planning on exploring the rest of the Garden Route and Klein Karoo, Knysna proves to be the perfect base from which to do so as it is centrally located and within easy driving distance of all the main attractions of the region – as well as the lesser known, undiscovered gems off the beaten track. A daytrip could see you riding an ostrich, clambering through caves, staring a crocodile in the face, diving with great white sharks or jumping the world's highest bungee.
A little closer to home you can meet our gentle giants, the Knysna elephants, walk with big cats, catch up with long lost family members and other primates and stand amazed at the colours of exotic, tropical birds.
That's if you find the time and inclination to leave our natural playground... ancient indigenous forests, acres of Cape fynbos, miles of uninterrupted beaches and the azure waters of the Knysna estuary provide the perfect settings for a mind blowing array of family oriented, adventure and adrenalin activities to enjoy.
Explore South Africa's first official goldfield at the Millwood mines while keeping a lookout for the elusive forest elephants. Tee off on one of a variety of world renowned golf courses or enjoy a day at an award winning spa. Shoot through the Knysna Heads on a whale watching trip, or watch the sunset with a glass of bubbly and a couple of oysters from the deck of a luxury yacht on the estuary. Shop a la provence at a number of farmers' and craft markets or visit our world class shops. Discover the largest sub-Saharan Rastafari community at Judah's Square or meet your crew at a coffee shop in town. Enjoy some local cooking during a community experience with a difference, or sample gourmet fare from our exclusive restaurants. Take advantage of the fishing or take a dive to a shipwreck. Hunt a sighting of the elusive Knysna Loerie or simply enjoy a sunrise stroll along an unspoilt beach.
Reach Knysna by flying into George and renting a car for the beautiful 50km drive from the airport to Knysna. The town is conveniently situated along the N2 between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (approximately 500km east of Cape Town and approximately 270km west of Port Elizabeth) and is within easy self-drive distances from these and other major centres.
Find your perfect holiday destination in Knysna – and find your perfect holiday accommodation with Knysna Luxury Accommodation on Thesen Islands.
South Africa's Garden Route is world renowned for its natural beauty and exotic holiday destinations. Knysna is widely regarded as the unofficial capital of this pristine region and Thesen Islands, resting in the sparkling waters of the Knysna estuary, is amongst the most exclusive of luxury destinations.
Here you will find your home away from home in The Beach House or Edgewater Cottage, two well appointed, luxuriously private family homes.
Both of our properties offer direct access to the network of waterways, as each comes equipped with its own floating jetty which is easily accessible regardless of the tide. Linked by bridges and tree-lined avenues, Thesen Islands are connected to Thesen Harbour Town and, beyond that, the town of Knysna via a single road, with only residents and their guests gaining access to the island through the boom at the 24 hour security entrance – offering you the luxury of peace of mind.
Thesen Harbour Town, with its exclusive restaurants and shopping, is within easy walking distance of both The Beach House and Edgewater Cottage, while the excitement and attractions of the Knysna Waterfront and Knysna town lies a mere twenty minute walk away.
Thesen Islands itself offers enough to keep you entertained: be amazed at the labyrinth, join the kids at the play park, spot elusive species from the bird hide, stock up at the orchard and enjoy a picnic in the park, get active on the squash- and tennis courts, practice your putting on the 18 hole putting course, paddle through the waterways on the complimentary canoes, fish from your private deck or just sit back and relax...
And you don't have to worry about the kids - with the extra wide sidewalks and vehicular speed on the islands limited to 30kph, they're more than safe on their skateboards, rollerblades and bicycles.
