Welcome to our three beautifully restored, traditional French cottages. In the very heart of the Dordogne, South West France.

Nestled on the side of a valley, all properties offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Set in 3 acres of land, at the end of a quiet country lane, there is no traffic and no noise, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular surroundings without distraction.

All three cottages have been restored to a very high standard, retaining their rustic charm while still offering you all the home comforts you will need for your stay. From the wide oak floors and original stone walls to the beautifully renovated wooden worktops, each house has bags of charm and character that will make your stay with us truly special.

A lovingly restored 300 year old cottage, L'Hermite is the perfect rural retreat. Sleeping up to 6 people with 2 double bedrooms and one bedroom with 2 singles, it is ideal for a family or couples looking to holiday together.

With its own private terrace, outdoor dining area and newly installed plunge pool, L'Hermite enjoys spectacular views over the valley and the surrounding countryside.

The house itself comprises a 40 meter square living area with open plan kitchen and dining area. Leading on to a cozy sitting area with a traditional fireplace and wood burning stove, perfect for those winter evenings.

The first floor also includes one large double bedroom and bathroom with double sinks and 2 showers.

The house, while traditional in style, offers all the modern comforts, fully equipped kitchen, TV, CD and WiFi.

Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom and a third bedroom with 2 single beds, perfect for younger members of the family.

But what makes L'Hermite really special are its views. Whether you are sitting by the pool, enjoying an evening meal on the sunny terrace or simply waking up on a warm sunny morning, we guarantee the views really will take your breath away.

About this location

The Dordogne region

The property is just 2 miles from the sleepy village of Thenon, where you will find a bakery, supermarket, post office and a bank as well as a variety of restaurants serving traditional local dishes.

But despite the quiet surroundings, we are ideally situated for all the main tourist sites. A short drive will take you to the famous medieval town of Sarlat, the caves at Les Eyzies and Montignac, walk the cobbled streets of the ancient Roman city of Perigueux or visit one of the many chateaux near Beynac and Domme. For the more adventurous, take a canoe trip down the beautiful River Vezere or enjoy the views from the skies in a hot air balloon.

And at the end of a long day site seeing, relax in what is quite possibly one of the most tranquil places on earth. Known as the land of 1000 chateaux and the birth place of modern man, the Dordogne is a truly magical place. We hope to see you soon.

"Wonderful place to stay"

We spent a delightful week here. The house was comfortable, nicely kept, quaint, and had a wonderful equipped kitchen. It is about 2 km away from the small town of Thenon it was easy to drive there ev… More

I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Spring is lovely too and from May on the little restaurant at the lake is open as well. It would be my pleasure to welcome you once more.

My daughter and I had the delight to arrive at L'Hermite after a late decision to visit the Dordogne. Our host could not have been more helpful. Her gentle presence is all around and yet unobtrusive.

It is a stunning location and we were fortunate to have warm sunshine each day. For complete relaxation I would highly recommend.

You were very lucky this week was left, because the indian summer in this surrounding attracts many. But -like you imagined - the atmosphere at the location doesn't stick to seasons. I look forward to welcome you again.

"A holiday to rememeber"

If you want to relax, have me time and quality time this is the place for you. The cottage we stayed in is the smaller 1 but sleeps 6 it was very French and fully equipped. we meet the owner and she was so helpful and lovely lady. The views are to dye for, as is the surrounding area.. The small lake which is only 20 mins walk from cottage which has a restaurant, is very friendly and very French, worth a visit. Airport is only 1 hour 15 mins drive away. Montignac is a wonderful place to go,well I could go on and on. I would say it was one of the very best holidays we have had and we are already thinking about going back. This is the 1st time I have done review it was that good.

I am very happy you enjoyed your stay. I agree, the peaceful and quiet place is a balm for body and soul. It will be my pleasure as well to welcome again. You know you can rent one of the other two cottages as well when you might think of bringing the rest of your family next time?

Because I never will get an aword for my digital knowledge, it took a while before I knew how to respond. So I know it is somewhat late but I want to thank you for your review. All comments help to improve the house and service.
