Home description

Meribel ski apartment to rent - beautiful ski apartment on two floors, in the authentic alpine village of Les Allues, just 10 mins walk from the ski lift. At the end of the day you can ski back to Les Allues from the Meribel pistes, conditions permitting. Village shops, restaurants, bars, ski hire are all just a few minutes walk from the chalet.

Les Marmottes is our own holiday home we are happy to share it with others who love the mountains. It sleeps six very comfortably, with a double bedroom, a second bedroom which can have a large double bed or 2 singles, a sleeping area with a single bed and a comfortable double sofa bed.

The apartment is well maintained and cared for by ourselves and a local agency, who will get everything ready for your arrival. The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

The apartment is situated in tthe village of Les Allues in the Savoie region of the French Alps, just 6 km from the resort of Meribel. In winter Meribel and the surrounding villages are a ski and snowboarding paradise, being in the central valley of The Three Valleys ski area, perfectly placed for excursions on skis to the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Val Thorens (glacier skiing), Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville. in the neighbouring valleys.

The Three Valleys offers 600 km of pisted skiing with runs for all abilitiy levels. Meribel has a wide choice of ski schools offering skiing and snoboard lessons in English and ski hire is available in the village just a few minutes walk from the apartment. The pistes can be quickly reached from Les Allues on the Olympe gondola lift.

Meribel's high altitude and extensive snow making make it a snow-sure resort and ideal for early and late ski holidays.


The area is easily reached from several local airports (Chambery 60 mins, Lyon 1 hr 50 mins, Geneva 2 hrs 10 min) and by car (driving time from Calais 9 hrs) and train. Eurostar trains take you to Moutiers, just 15 mins from Les Allues.


The Three Valleys / Meribel area

Winter: The gondola lift from Les Alliues takes you straight to Chaudanne (1450 m) in Meribel Situated in the central valley of the Three Valleys ski area, with its 600 kms of pisted skiing and runs for beginners to expert, Meribel is perfectly placed for excursions on skis to the other resorts of the Trois Vallees, such as Courchevel, La Tania, Val Thorens (glacier skiing), Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville.

The skiing is high (up to 3,200m) and snowsure and Meribel's extensive snowmaking is the envy of other resorts, enabling skiing to begin in mid-December and continue to the end of April. Ski schools meet at La Chaudanne, close to the arrival point of the Olympe gondola lift. For beginners there is a dedicated beginners area. Snowboarders love the snowboard parks and half-pipes.

Families: a choice of English speaking ski schools offering ski and snowboard instruction. A family lift pass scheme offers discounts. There is a creche for babies and younger children in Les Allues, situated just one minute's walk from the chalet, which also offers a nanny service and more childcare / ski kindergarten options in Meribel.

Apres-ski: lively village bar in Les Allues, a good place to meet after skiing, with delicious home-made pizzas, pool table, Sky TV and live entertainment most weeks later on in the evening. There is an upstairs restaurant. The village offers 4 other restaurants. The ski shuttle bus runs until late each night for apres-ski in Merbiel, which has an ice rink, ten pin bowling, cinema etc. Swimming pool with flumes and jacuzzi, fitness centre and spa.

Driving time from Calais 9.5 hours, on fast motorway route. Airport transfer times: Geneva 2 hrs 15 mins, Lyons 1 hr 50., Chambery 1 hour. These airports are served by a variety of airlines from the UK and Europe. Airport transfers availble to resort by minibus, taxi or scheduled bus service with various companies, links on our own website, see link at bottom of this page..
Arrival by Eurostar train at Moutiers - transfer time is 15 mins, by taxi or minbus. If arriving early in the morning or leaving late a luggage storage room is available at the chalet so that you can make the most of your skiing time.

Flexible sleeping accommodation, ideal for couples, families or a small group of friends. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a double bed, a 2nd bedroom - twin singles which can be joined to make a very large double, and a separate private sleeping area with a full size single bed. Three couples can be accommodated as downstairs there is very comfortable double sofa bed. (downstairs wc as well as upstairs wc)

Bathroom: fully tiled bath, full height shower over the bath, built-in washbasin; large heated towel rail. Separate upstairs wc . Second wc downstairs.

Families are welcome and Meribel is the ideal summer resort for family activity holidays. Cots and high chairs can be hired directly from our resort agency and there is an excellent creche (or nanny service) just one minute's walk from the chalet. Couples are welcome too - the apartment is very cosy just for two. Chalet Apartment Les Marmottes is our own holiday home it is maintained to a high standard and you will find everything you need for a convenient self-catered holiday.

On arrival guests will find beds made up, towels and bathrobes laid out, heating and hot water on - just settle in and relax. Cots and high chairs can be hired locally and in winter there is a creche just one minute's walk from the chalet (available in summer according to demand).

Open-Plan Living / Dinng Room / Kitchen: large pine table comfortably seating six, pine dresser. Doors to balcony. Open-tread wooden stairs lead to the bedrooms (care needed with young children).

The L- shaped kitchen has ttiled worktiops, oven with grill, 4 ring ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine / tumble drier, with freezer compartment. With ample tableware and coiokware for six people, an electric kettle, coffee maker, fondue set,. Electric fans in the bedrooms in summer.

Living Area: 39 cm flatscreen TV, DVD player and discs, XBox console and games, Sony music system with CDs and MP3 output socket - bring your own MP3 player.. Electric heating throughout and electric woodburner-style stove in the living room.

In summer balcony table, chairs and sun umbrella are provided and this is a great place for breakfast or lunch in the sun, or relaxing at the end of the day with a drink watching the sun set on the glacier - many guests say this is one of the highlights of the holiday.

Further details outdoors:
The private car park is right next to the chalet and is available for guest's use - there are also some private parking spaces right at the chalet door. If you are arriving early in the day, or leaving later, there is a luggage storage room available on request, making things easier if you are travelling by Eurostar train and wish to maximise your time on the pistes.

Due to the access stairs (the apartment is on the first floor) and the apartment staircase to bedrooms and bathrooms it is not suitable for those with mobility problems. Families are welcome, but care is needed with babies and toddlers as the staircase is open-tread and no stairgate is provided.

Nearest shop: village supermarket 5 mins walk. Nearest restaurant / bar:: 3 minutes walk. Ski Hire: 5 mins walk (also mountain bike hire). Resort Shuttle Bus: 5 mins walk. Ski Lift:: 10 minutes walk. (car park at the lift station). Creche / Childcare: 1 minute walk (also provides summer activities for children)


Further details

All services such as electricity and hot water, bedlinen and towels, end of stay cleaning are included in the rental price, and the apartment is fully cleaned to come into. Also included in the price: pre-arrival bedmaking, use of phone for local calls, ski locker in basement (or bike storage) parking in private chalet car park, tourist taxes and some little luxuries such as towelling bathrobes, complimentary toiletries and hairdryers.

Booking deposit of £180 (non-refundable) due on booking with the balance of rental being paid 10 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable security deposit of £200 is payable with the balance of rental, held against damages and refunded on your return home, normally within 7 days of the holiday.

Conditions

The apartment is not suitable for those with impaired mobility due to the stairs up to the apartment from the chalet's entrance hallway and the internal apartment staircase (open-tread) which leads up to the bedrooms and bathroom.

Care is needed with babies and toddlers as the apartment has an open-tread staircase, balcony and open plan kitchen and living room with no door between.

The apartment is non-smoking. Sorry, no pets are alllowed.

You will need to arrange holiday insurance before departure and must be at least 21 years of age to make a booking.

A booking deposit of £180 secures your booking with the balance of rental to be paid 10 weeks before the holiday. For bookings within 10 weeks of the holiday arrival date the full amount is paid on booking. A security deposit of £200 is also required. You must be at least 21 years of age to make a booking. Sorry but we can't accept bookings of longer than 2 weeks. All payments must be in UK pounds.

For early arrivals there is a luggage storage room you can use (free of charge) until you are able to enter the apartment. Mountain biking in Meribel - bike storage available in the chalet basement.
