About this location
The Cornwall region
The Lizard Peninsular is undoubtably one of the most spectacular areas of Cornwall. It is surrounded on three sides by water. The countryside is largely unspoilt with farmland, moorland and coastal fringes. Due to it's micro climate there is a rich profusion of wild flowers and heathers. The area is dotted with pretty fishing villages such a Cagwith and Coverack and hidden coves. Cornwall has many beautiful gardens, notably Heligan and The Eden Project, both an hour away. Falmouth is our closest large town (20 minutes) with it's Maritime history and museum and a good selection of independent shops and restaurants St Ives home of Tate Modern and numerous galleries is 40 minutes away. The cottage is well positioned to explore most of Cornwall.
The Lizard Peninsula
Gunwalloe is a small former fishing village approximately 6 miles from the market town of Helston located on the West coast between Porthleven and Mullion on the spectacular Lizard Peninsular. The area is a mix of farmland and coast dotted with beaches and bays and fishing villages. Helston has two supermarkets and a good selection of local shops. The harbour town of Porthleven (60 minutes walk along the coastal path) has a good choice of excellent restaurants and pubs.
