About the home

We are very proud to have been voted by our guests as a Top 10 Winner in the "Holiday Lettings Hall of Fame for 2011". Le Jarrier Gite offers self catering accommodation in a rural setting. It is s a recently converted stable / barn which has been renovated to provide a detached holiday home with modern facilities.and a well appointed kitchen. Sleeps 4 + in addition, we have a travel cot for babies / toddlers complete with bedding. We also provide FREE WI-FI,
Le Jarrier is set in 2 acres and this provides excellent space for our guests to enjoy. The large secure gite garden area benefits from its south facing position and stunning views and has an above ground private pool (4.5 metres) & parking for 2 cars or more.
The gite has a very well equipped kitchen and the conservatory / garden room provides excellent views of the surrounding countryside from the dining / living room area.
The shower room, with walk-in shower is also on the ground floor as is bedroom 2 with full / adult size (3' wide) bunk beds.
On the first floor is the main bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite W/C, giving the property the added benefit of 2 W/C's (one on each floor).
There is a Playstation 2 in the gite with 2 UK Satellite TV systems (in both the lounge and main bedroom) & DVD player in the lounge which has a 32" LCD TV..
Heating is provided via electric wall heaters and there are no additional charges for electricity. Bedding and towels are all provided free of charge as is a Welcome Pack including a Bottle of Wine, bread, 6 eggs (from our own chickens), milk, butter & jam.
Children and adults love feeding our animals e.g. our chickens, sheep, ducks & pigs.

PLEASE NOTE - From 2011, we are managing a 2nd gite in the area Gite Maison Leloup - sleeping up to 8 people (+ a baby/toddler) less than 2 miles from Le Jarrier, in our village St Georges le Gaultier. You will find a link for Gite Maison Leloupat the end of our advert.

Facilities

Further details indoors:
There is a selection of books in the gite about France e.g. exploring the Loire Valley, French Cheese and Wine , French Villages and a full sized French / English dictionary.
There is a Playstation 2 (PS2) with a range of games in the gite which also benefits from two UK Satellite TV's (in the lounge and main bedroom) and a DVD player in the lounge with a 32" LCD TV & a selection of DVDs. For babies / young children we have a travel cot (complete with bedding), stair gate and high chair and outside there is a children's picnic bench in addition to the swings / climbing frame set. The large garden is fenced and secure. A selection of indoor games (e.g. Scrabble, Cluedo, Chess, Cards, Jigsaws, Draughts and many more) & a range of fiction books. The gite also has Free WI-FI.
Heating is via electric wall heaters and there are no additional charges for electricity.
Bedding and towels are all provided free of charge and there is also a good size fridge freezer, washing machine and a Coffee machine. There is a rotary clothes line in the gites private garden and an indoor drying rack.

Further details outdoors:
As Le Jarrier is set in approx. 2 acres, there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy in addition to the private gite garden area. The pool is new for the 2011 season and is 4.5 metres wide and 90 cm high, ideal for the whole family (seasonal) and is above ground, accessed by a small ladder.
Gite garden furniture includes: a coffee table set, parasol, 4 loungers, good sized dining table with seating and a gas BBQ. The gite is also equipped with outdoor lighting and outdoor electricity sockets enabling guests to benefit from the outdoor space.
We have a play area for children with Swings and a children's picnic bench. There is also a range of outdoor games available e.g. Football goal net, Giant "Connect 4", Boules, bat & ball games etc.
The privare parking area is alongside the gite and there is easily room for 2 or 3 cars. Adults and children love to feed our pigs, sheep. goat, chickens & ducks.

A Welcome Pack is provided for your arrival: Bottle of Wine, French Stick, Butter, 6 Fresh Eggs (from our own chickens), Milk & Jam.
There are also some tea bags, sugar and coffee for your use.
Bedding, towels, electricity & gas are all included in the price.
Owner is English speaking and is contactable / nearby for advice and information.

Conditions

We offer flexibility with a minimum length of stay just 2 nights (unless otherwise stated) and do not have a set change-over day.
Guest arrivals are after 2.30pm and departures should be before 10.30am.
However these times could be flexible depending upon other bookings.

The Loire Valley / Sarthe region

Le Jarrier Gite is situated about a mile and a half from the village of St Georges le Gaultier and provides an excellent base for many types of enjoyable day trips.
There are the many Vineyards and Chateaux of the Loire Valley, the ever popular Zoo at Le Fleche, the famous Le Mans Race Circuit - home of the 24 hour endurance race as well as many more places of interest within easy reach.
The Sarthe area can provide you with sight seeing at an easy pace, or action packed adventure - it is all available.
Our location is less than 20 miles south from the Normandy region, enabling a day trip to the historical Normandy Landing Beaches (further north), and guests can visit Alencon with a good range of shops & twice weekly market. Within 1 hours drive are Chateau Sassy and Carrouges Chateau, both offering guided tours.
Only a couple of miles west of Le Jarrier is the Mayenne region and the popular Evron, Mayenne and Saint Suzanne to name only a few......
The local roads are excellent and we are also about 20 mins. from Junction 20 of the A28 autoroute.
Generally speaking, the weather is warmer than that of the UK.

The Alpes Mancelles / Fresnay sur Sarthe area

The Alpes Mancelles, only a few kilometres from Le Jarrier Gite, is a well known area of natural beauty popular with visitors and the village of St Leonard des Bois offers canoeing, walking & tree climbing.
Within half a mile of Le Jarrier Gite is the viaduct at St Georges le Gaultier, where organised Bungee Jumps are available. The local lake with beach at Sille le Guillaume (just 10 mins drive from Le Jarrier) offers cafes and bars, boat hire, pedalos, crazy golf, tree climbing and fishing. There is a mini train ride available to take you around the lake if you prefer a change from walking, and the forest is ideal for walking and cycling.
Fresnay sur Sarthe has a traditional weekly market and medieval ruins offering excellent views. A swimming pool and tennis courts are also available at Fresnay sur Sarthe.

“A French Connection that is too good to miss” This is our fourth visit and Heather and Gary are excellent hosts. They cannot do enough for you and are simply brillant.The gite is of a high standard with lots to do including a small swimming pool and set in a peaceful country location which is a great place to relax, for sighseeing, for sporting activities or shopping nearby.

“A lovely relaxing holiday” Le Jarrier is in a lovely country setting, yet only 10 minutes drive to the lake beach. The gite is well equipped and hosts Heather and Garry are very friendly and helpful, but not at all intrusive.

“A complete away from it all with fab views.” A lovely gite with all the comforts of home. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful but also discreet. The gite has every thing you could want, including Playstation for the kids. More films than you could watch, books that you could read and an amazing amount of tourist information that was really useful. We would highly recommend this gite to anyone who wants a quite, peaceful base within easy reach of a wide range of activities and places to visit.

“Delightful modern fully equipped cottage in a lovely rural location” The gite has been modernised and has every thing supplied for a home from home. It is surrounded by wonderful countryside but is close to lovely villages. A paradice for adults and children with some friendly animals in adjoining fields.

“Lovely well cared for gite in pretty location with friendly helpful owners.” The property is located in a rural location but close to several pretty villages with lovely restaurants and within easy driving distance of Le Mans. The gite is very well equipped and well cared for. The very friendly owners are always on hand to advise about the local area and take care of any problems. Very good value for money. We would definitely return.

A non refundable deposit payment of 25% of the cost of your holiday at LE JARRIER GITE is payable at the time of booking. This can be paid via the Paypal website (free, safe, quick and secure method), which is possible even if you do not have a Paypal account and there is no charge to the holidaymaker.

A £250 or 250 euro cheque is also needed at time of Booking as a Security / Damages Deposit, this will be held by the gite owner and will be returned at the end of your stay following checks on the property and contents.

We ask that the gite is left as you find it. However if you prefer, a Cleaning Charge of 35 euros can be paid upon arrival and we will clean the gite on your departure day. We prefer payment for this in Euros

The balance of the holiday is to be paid in full 4 weeks prior to the start date of your holiday also via Paypal.

Minimum stay is 2 nights, unless otherwise stated.

Arrivals are after 2.30pm and departure before 10.30am.
