Home description
The 4 bedroom villa is set within the lush jungle of Than Sadet overlooking the sea and bay, 300 meters from Than Sadet's sandy beaches and National Park. The house has been designed to be as open plan as possible to maximize views from all rooms and to take full advantage of the cooling sea breezes.
The villa comes with staff that live onsite in a separate house and are there to enhance your holiday experience.
The villa is set within 2200 square meters of landscaped tropical gardens with steps leading down to its own private rocky beach and small sandy beach area set back in the rocks. The garden has many fruit trees including coconuts, papaya, pineapples, bananas and cashew nuts as well as a large assortment of tropical plants and flowers.
This house is not suitable for children under the age of 8 partly due to low 3 meter wide windows and infinity edge pool with 3 meter drop. The house is also located off an unsealed road on hillside land with steps leading down to it and therefore has no wheel chair access and is unsuitable for people with mobility difficulties.
Electricity: There are no power lines in Than Sadet so therefore everyone living here is reliant on their own generators and alternative forms of power, including White Azure which uses a combination of generators, solar and battery power which are maintained by the onsite staff.
Telephone: is available at some of the local restaurants and also at White Azure house via a wifi enabled broadband satellite internet connection with Skype if you have a laptop.

The Koh Phangan region
Koh Phangan is an island in the Gulf of Thailand in a chain of islands including Koh Samui, the Angthong Marine Park and Koh Tao. The majority of the island is hilly and covered with dense jungle, sloping down to the sea. Bays with white sandy beaches surround the island, some accessible by roads or tracks, some only by boat. The island is quiet and peaceful, the pace of life is slow and relaxing. Attractions Boat trips, either by speedboat or the local “longtail” fisherman’s boats around the island are a great way to see the beaches and hills. Day trips to the Angthong Marine Park are highly recommended. These islands are all well known as diving centres, the diving and snorkeling in this area is considered world class. The island has a number of Bhuddist temples, also some Chinese temples reflecting the Chinese ancestry of many of the island’s original inhabitants. For the adventurous, trekking through the jungle is spectacular, either on foot or on the back of an elephant, the panoramic views are magnificent, the many waterfalls are worth visiting. Spas There are a number of different spas, massage and yoga schools offering daily or residential courses and treatments.
Than Sadet area
Than Sadet has 2 sandy bays separated by a small fresh water estuary which leads up to the waterfalls. The larger beach is about 300 meters long. After a relaxing sea swim you can wash off the salt in the mouth of the river before leaving the water. There is a small wooden bridge across the river with a pathway leading to the second smaller beach which is about 100 meters long and is about 5 minutes walk.
National Park When translated literally, Than Sadet means the Royal Waterfall Retreat. The name refers to the long-running tradition of visits from members of Thai royalty to the deep fresh-water cascades set in the jungle about 10 minutes walk from the beach. The falls by many are considered sacred and water is collected to be used in certain Royal Ceremonies that obtain water from only a few sources around Thailand. A wooden pagoda just off the beach is kept swept and polished as a royal reception house.
The national park at Than Sadet was established in 1999 to help keep the waterfall and surrounding jungle clean and rubbish-free, to clamp any illegal hunting, and to halt attempts at the kind of unfettered development that has spoiled other parts of the island. Thanks to the presence of a manned National Park office, as well as the efforts of the local people, Than Sadet is an unspoilt spot.
In recent times, monkeys have started to reappear at the waterfall. Other native four-legged creatures of Than Sadet include wild boar and deer, squirrel, possum and the harmless, alligator look-alike giant monitor lizard. Bats, flying foxes, spiders and snakes, dolphins and turtles are also frequently spotted. Fish such as red snapper, mackerel, barracuda, can be caught off shore. Song birds along with large birds of prey including sea eagles inhabit the area’s lush vegetation and cliffs.
A well-marked walking trail leads from the beach to the falls. Other trails lead over the high ridges on either side of the cove, past the hibiscus bushes, the coconut and banana groves, mango, papaya and cashew trees of the beach and into the dense jungle. Popular hikes include a 25 minute uphill hike to a flat-rock offering a superb view of Than Sadet’s double bay, and an hour-long hike to nearby Tong Nai Pan. Many other trails exist although a guide is recommended.
Nightlife For those of you who are into night life, there are various parties happening around the island most days of the week including the world famous full moon party and half moon/black moon party as well as many others. Taxi boats are available to transport you there and back as well as to the neighbouring beaches of Tong Nai Pan Yai and Tong Nai Pan Noi where a more sophisticated party/bar atmosphere is on offer.
How to get there
Only 30 minutes by boat from the neighbouring island of Koh Samui, location of the nearest International airport, and with long established boat services to the mainland, Koh Phangan is easily accessible through a variety of transport links.
