Spacious 2 bed apartment
About the home
I bought here as an investment but fell in love with the area and friendly people and visit as often as I can!
Two low semicircles of apartments face each other over the gardens and swimming pool, there is some new building nearby, but the complex is set in fields and grazing animals. Twenty minutes walk takes you to the wide golden beaches and clear clean waves of Cabo Negro beach - busy and fun in the six weeks of high summer, with camel rides and ice cream sellers and umbrellas, at other times quiet, with a few fishermen or bathers.
Nearby is the beautiful Royal (18 hole) Cabo Negro golf course with immaculate landscape and attractive club house. You might even find yourself playing behind the King's sister, an international golfer! Keen golfers can also drive to the renowned Tangier golf course.
There are four varied restaurants within a few minutes walk, these have delicious fresh food at a much lower price than Spain. A high quality riding stable is a few minutes walk away, much enjoyed by adults and children.
The relaxing sitting room of the flat has wide glass doors to the terrace, which has comfortable wicker chairs and low table. At the other end of the sitting room is the well equipped kitchen area- it has top quality china & plenty of cooking equipment-down to a recipe book and garlic squeezer!
A cool dining recess opens off the hall, with glass table and four chairs, (extra folding chairs are available for guests.) Books and games for children and adults, as well as satellite TV and DVD player, are there to be enjoyed
The garden facing bedroom with comfortable twin beds (that can be made up as a superking- sized double if preferred, just ask in advance) has sliding shutters to let in the breeze and keep out the sun. It has mahogany cupboards and a chest of drawers with mirror.
The arched bedroom at the back was created by taking next-doors' bedroom and joining them, making an extra large room. It has a king size bed, mahogany cupboards, full length mirror and view over the hills
By arrangement it is possible to have a wooden cot for baby or toddler/ comfortable extra full- size folding bed put up in this room, or floor mattresses for children
A car is not necessary if you want to relax and chill out. Take in the sun on the terrace, or a lounger by the pool. There is lots to do within walking distance and all food can be delivered, taxis ordered or expeditions arranged by our friendly agents who live on the complex.
With a car you are ideally placed for the best things on Tamuda Bay. Water sports at Marina Smirr, a large water park with tubes for splashes and fairground rides even a Thalassotherapy centre for a day's pampering is 20 mins towards Ceuta.
M'Diq is a few minutes drive, for pavement cafes and a bargain meal of fish or meat kebabs while you watch the world go by- or eat and have a glass of wine at one of of the many smart restaurants and cafes there- even a night club. Fishermen dot the bay in the evenings, you can watch their lights bobbing while sipping a drink or eating a meal.
At M'diq's fresh food and fish markets, or from street positions, you can buy food from those who produced it.
Ten minutes in the Tetouan direction takes you to mammoth Marjane supermarket which sells just about everything including alcohol, spices, beds, fresh bread- and no language or bargaining skills needed!
Near the complex is 'pot city' a row of stalls selling pottery and small craft objects from all over Morocco in amazing colour and variety at rock bottom prices.
Tetouan is the regional centre with a wide variety of shops, museums and historic buildings as well as the Medina.
An amazing expedition is through the beautiful and unspoilt hills to Chechauan the blue town, full of fascinating alleyways and intriguing shops - you can go on organised hill walks or wander where you will, or watch local craftsmen.
Very near, take a glimpse into an ancient way of life in the unchanged Tetuan medina- this was what Marrakesh was like before the tourists! We know an official guide with excellent language skills who will take you to fascinating places there and not force you to buy things, though he will give excellent advice if you do want to shop, and there are beautiful things to buy.
Ceuta the Spanish enclave half an hour down the coast, is a duty free zone for great shopping, vibrant night life, a huge aqua park and Spanish architecture. Or helicopter from there to a day in Malaga for a different world - even take the ferry to explore Gibraltar for something completely different, for a day out?
But it will be difficult to tear yourself away from Morocco and the wonderful beaches and countryside!

The Tangier/Rif Mountains region
The Meditteranean coast of Morocco is a secret kept by Moroccans! Golden sands stretch for miles, the sea is clear and clean and full of delicious fish that are sold in local markets and fish restaurants far below the Spanish prices. Moroccans flock there in mid summer when it is full of life and amusements - water park, camel rides , trinket sellers, magicians, camel rides, beaches swept daily and promenades full of happy holiday families.
Outside those six weeks it is much quieter, bird watchers find it amazing when the birds migrate from Africa to Europe, but for non experts it is fun just watching the storks nesting on high places. The seaside is clean and organised, the mountains feel unchanged for centuries with shepherds guarding the sheep.
People are free to walk anywhere and Moroccans are friendly and interested in meeting visitors. tip- dress conservatively away from swimming areas out of respect for Moroccan culture. Most Moroccans do not drink alcohol, but hotels have bars for non Muslims, larger restaurants provide alcohol,it can be bought i then supermarkets at prices a bit lower than Britain.
There is a thalassotherapy centre not far away where you c an go for a day's pampering and all beauty treatments. Or go for a Moroccan massage at the natural remedies centre in Tetouan.
The Tetouan / Tamuda Bay area
The nearest town, five minutes drive, is M'diq, which has many restaurants and a couple of hotels, one with a night club. It is a great place for an informal meal of fish or meat kebabs on the pavement cafes, with a green salad and a cold drink for very low prices. Separate cafes sell cakes and coffee, ot there much larger ones overlooking the beach where you can sit on the first floor and watch the fishing boats.
Marina Smirr, is further down the coast and there you can arrange scuba diving and other water sports. Near there is th water park, full of tubes and splashes and other fairground activities.
Tetouan is a white town, it reflects its Spanish heritage in the modern part. In the centre is the ancient Medina, it remains unchanged, unlike Marakech, full of winding streets and markets, bread ovens, hammams and tiny shops. It is a World Heritage site and absolutely fascinating to visit- we can give you the name of a fully qualified guide who will take you to the places that interest you and tell you the history- and not try to make you buy anything you do not want to! Of course if you do want anything, he knows the best places.

We enjoyed our staying in your apartment. It is very nice. It was a pity we could not enjoy in the swimming pool ;) but we know it is winter and it was raining. On the other hand, the apartment was perfect and was very clean. Except the gas which didn't work. However a employer spoke English and she was very nice because talked to her partners and they came in the apartment to help us. However, we haven't got any car so we had to ask a taxi to drive to Tetouan or Chefchahuen because citys are very far. The employers in the complex can not get in touch with a taxi for us and we had to talk with some taxisin the night to pick us up in the morning. Even once the taxi didn`t go there and we had to wait if we saw a taxi. Finally we find one, but it is very difficult above all if it is not a good time in the day, in the night or 6 or 7 o'clock in the morning. The desadvantage is the remoteness. Even if the complex could get in touch with a taxi, it would not be any problem. At any rate, we are yielding people and we were well for our holidays. I have to say you your apartmente are very complete in the kitchen and in the bedrooms. It was a pity we could not use the terrace because it was raining and cold. We missed a better heater. There was one there but we sometimes had cold. We had to take blanckets in the living room in the night. At any rate the price it is very good and the apartment was very clean and new and we loved it. Moreover the employers were very kind with us they helped us when they could. |

Comfortable and nicely furnished with everything you might need. Relaxing base from which to explore. Wonderful excursion into the fascinating medina of nearby town of Tetouan, interesting local crafts to buy and nice cafes to eat out in the nearest village. Take your jodhpurs if you like horse riding - I had a great ride locally. Long sandy beaches nearby and mountains behind. |
