The Umbria region

Those who love nature, the old traditions, tranquillity and the enjoyment of life , can only feel at home and love Umbria, the green heart of Italy. With its profound roots in the past, it offers an unique testimony to the untouched Italian countryside.
An ideal mix of nature, peace, genuine cooking, culture and an antique farming tradition, Umbria is the centre of a continual flux of visitors from all over the world.A beautiful combination of rural and natural landscape constitutes one of its principal attractions. It's a region which offers natural panoramas of a particular beauty, characterized by green valleys and gently rolling hills, uncontamined areas in which you can find rural houses and medieval villages that remind us of the many historical passages that have seen Umbria as protagonist through the centuries.
Its cultural manifestations recognized all over the world, its historical centres, for istance, Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Orvieto, to mention only a few, and its ancient culinary traditions will give the visitor unforgettable moments to treasure for life time.

Terni area

SAN VENANZO, on Monte Peglia, 30 Km. from Orvieto, is the town of the District of Orvieto that lies closest to the territory of Perugia.
A small centre of medieval origins, it became the home of the Faina counts in more recent times and their Villa is now the town hall. The land on which the town stands is volcanic in nature, as witnessed by the fact that right close by an apparently unique volcanic rock known as venanzite is found. The first traces of human presence date back to the Palaeolithic period, as indicated by several founding of rock human handicrafts, among which the remarkable one found close to a deposit of bone-breach of the "Villafranchiano" period.
The ruins of ancient castles can be seen in the hamlets of San Vito in Monte (where there is also a spring of water low in mineral content), Civitella, Collelungo, Rotecastello, and Poggio Aquilone.
At 800 m. above sea level, Ospedaletto is the communes most popular tourist centre. The pine grove, the parks and the animal reserve are visited by a never-ending flow of tourists. The park of the "Sette Frati", for example, is equipped for art performance of various kind, picnics, and has also a large parking space.
Accommodations available with families in San Venanzo and in the territory characterise the quality of what is offered to the tourists.
The patron is San Venanzio martyr, whose feast if celebrated on May 18th, and at the same time also the "Maggio Sanvenanzese" event takes place.
