Pickle Cottage is an oak-framed building with wooden exterior close to the town of Tenterden. It was a former pig shed and has been recently renovated by Clare and Guy Williams.
Pickle Cottage has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and open plan kitchen, dining and living area, with an airy spacious interior and clean modern fittings. A wood burning stove makes the cottage warm and cosy in winter. French doors from the bedroom lead onto a small private deck. Situated down a farm track, in the gardens of Haynes Farm and Oast, offers the perfect location for exploring the local area. Underfloor heating, Freeview TV, Nespresso machine and WiFi connection mean that visitors can enjoy the luxuries of their own home.
Clare and Guy would be delighted to welcome you to Pickle Cottage and we are happy to provide additional services to make your visit enjoyable. For a small additional charge we can provide breakfast packs including milk, orange juice, croissants, cereal and fruit. About this location
The Kent region
Located in the heart of the Kentish countryside, Pickle Cottage is perfectly located to explore the Weald of Kent and the picturesque Cinque Ports town of Tenterden, the historic Port of Rye and nearby Sissinghurst, Bodiam and Leeds Castles. Great Dixter, with its famous gardens is also nearby. The famous Chart Hills golf course is ten minutes drive, and Tenterden has two further golf courses.
This part of Kent is developing a reputation for Fine Wine and Chapel Down Vineyard and Biddenden Vineyard are close by.
Kent is known as the garden of England and has one of the driest and brightest climates in the UK.
Other nearby attractions include: a steam railway station in Tenterden, from which visitors can catch a train to Bodiam castle; a Rare Breeds Centre, where children can come into close contact with a wide range of rare farm breeds.
Tenterden is a short drive from the coast and Camber Sands beach is a popular local attraction.
The Designer Outlet Centre in Ashford, about 20 minutes away, is also a well-known shopping destination for our visitors.
Tenterden is a picturesque market town with a tree lined high streets boasting many coffee shops, restaurants and antique shops as well as clothing stores. Tenterden is known for its folk festival in October. Pickle Cottage is located in a quiet location down a small (sometimes bumpy) farm track. It is situated within the garden of Haynes Farm, a converted barn and oast house. The garden contains a large pond (it is mostly fenced but small children need to be supervised.) Next door to Haynes Farm is a working farm and visitors can walk through the farm and see the sheep and cows.
Visitors to Pickle Cottage are able to use the garden and a small private deck area outside the bedroom. The Cottage looks out onto the back of the Oast House with a large picturesque pond to the left. (Please be aware that the pond is not completely fenced and small children must be supervised at all times.)
In addition to Waitrose and Tesco in Tenterden there are local farm shops for local produce and a market in Tenterden on Friday mornings.
