For those who prefer exploring the great outdoors there are numerous National Trust and heritage sites, cycle trails, coastal walks and golf courses. All located within a reasonable distance from The Lane's Cottage in Tenterden.

Tenterden

Located in the heart of Kent, the Cinque Port town of Tenterden is famed for its beautiful tree lined High Street, populated with quirky shops, a wide range of restaurants and quintessentially English pubs.

The rich heritage of the town is exhibited in a number of historical churches, houses and buildings, the Museum on Station Road gives visitors a glimpse of Tenterden over the last 1000 years.

Home to Kent & East Sussex Railway, steam engines run from Tenterden to Bodian Castle, where you can enjoy open air concerts in the summer. Other local entertainment includes the unique open air & barn theatres just outside Tenterden at Smallhythe Place, home to the Victorian actress Ellen Terry.

Tenterden plays host to a number of events throughout the year, including Tentertainment in June, Tenterden Folk Festival in October and Christmas late night shopping in early December.

"A great place to stay- highly recommended"

'We had a lovely time staying at the Lanes. The owner went to great lengths to accommodate our needs and her attention to detail at the property was fantastic. Our son loved making fresh bread with the mix and maker that was kindly left for us. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated and so comfortable.
The location is great and we enjoyed walking to the shops, the train, the swimming pool, excellent play park and for a pub lunch. If you do want to get into the car there are lots of places to visit within easy reach. For a family with young children we loved the Rare breeds centre and Headcorn aerodrome.
We would have no hesitation to recommend The Lanes to families, couples or small groups.
