The coast is within approx 11 miles where you can visit the beautiful Cinque Port town of Rye or relax on the beautiful sandy beach at Camber. Travel along the coast towards New Romney where you will find the unique Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway .
Walking distance to everything, exploring this historic country town lined by a blend of Tudor, Regency and Victorian buildings couldn’t be more convenient. In addition to the plethora of restaurants, bars, and antique shops to browse by foot, Tenterden is dominated by the pinnacle tower of St. Mildred’s Church famously known from where once the signal beacon warned of the approach of the Spanish Armada, and where later Lord Nelson's daughter, Horatia Nelson was the wife of the vicar.
A worthwhile visit inside to admire its beautiful stain glass windows, and when open, a trip to the spire at the top gives breathtaking views of the area. The famous Kent & East Sussex Steam railway is about 5 minutes walk taking you to Bodium Castle makes a great day out or simply explore the country trails by foot or bike at the rear of the High Street.
A leisure centre is also located in the town with Tennis, swimming and a health suite, plus water flumes for children at scheduled times. For the keen golfer there are three courses, including Nick Faldo's designed course; Chart Hills, all within 10 minutes away, or you can visit Chapel Down vineyards with it's distinctive and award winning wines just minutes away.
