The South East England / Kent region

From mysterious marshlands and breathtaking countryside to the dramatic white cliffs of Dover, there are medieval towns, historic castles, towering cathedrals and bustling seaside resorts to keep you busy on your visit to Kent.

Tenterden area

Tenterden is a small town near Ashford in Kent. On the edge of the weald (small woods still referred to as a weald in this part of England) it overlooks the valley of the River Rother.

The town has an industrial history in sheep and wool and provided timber from the weald for ship building. Back in the 14-th century Flemish weavers were encouraged to move to this area and bring their weaving and dying skills with them.

The tree-lined high street has historic shops and houses dating back to the 15th-century, but save your pennies for a visit to the local vineyard.

Further details indoors:
The Sitting Room is very comfortably furnished with two two-seater sofas, as well as dining table for four people. There is a wood-burning stove in the large inglenook fireplace which can be lit in the colder months (though the gas central heating is more than sufficient for warming the house). This room also has a TV/DVD and music centre, as well as a selection of DVDs for your enjoyment, books and local tourist information.

The comfortably appointed spacious main bedroom looks out towards the high street (which is beyond the long front garden, so noise levels are low). There is a double bed, wardrobes, dressing table, bedside tables with lamps, and colour TV with VCR. A feature fireplace and antique furniture complement this delightful room.

The second bedroom is located on the second (top) floor of the house, and boasts two single beds, colour television with VCR, as well as wardrobe, dressing table, and bedside tables with lamps. The room is dual aspect with a view of the high street through the dormer window to the front, and the houses and gardens of the town through the window to the rear.

Further details outdoors:
The garden, situated at the rear of the property, is a delightful sheltered place to sit out all year long. There is a barbeque area, as well as a terrace with seating and further area of garden beyond.

Further details

Please note that as this is a very old property (probably 17th Century) the stairs to the upper floors are steep, and may not be suitable for some people with impaired mobility.
