The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

Hidden away on the coast of West Wales, Pembrokeshire, with its lush rolling countryside and pristine white sandy beaches, is surely amongst the most beautiful areas in Britain. No other county in the UK has more Blue Flag or Seaside Award beaches and with over 50 beaches to choose from you're sure to find the perfect one for you wether you're looking for surfing and water sports or somewhere peaceful to relax and enjoy the sun and sandcastles!

There are many small islands off the coast of Pembrokeshire, the most well known being Caldey, Ramsey and Skomer. During the summer months regular boat trips are available for day trips to explore these islands which are home to thousands of puffins, gannets and other sea birds. The deep waters off Pembrokeshire are also a good place to view amazing marine animals such as whales, dolphins, seals and porpoises. In addition to this, the coast of Pembrokeshire offers unrivalled opportunities for fishing and to celebrate the vast amount of fresh fish available off the shores, the county holds a "Pembrokeshire Fish Week" which is full of family friendly activities that take place throughout the county.

Steeped in history and filled with charming villages and quaint market towns, Pembrokeshire, already a favourite location of photographers and artists, has also captured the imagination of Hollywood directors who have chosen the area as the perfect backdrop for a number of films.

With 186 miles of coastal footpaths to explore, mild winter weather and a diverse range of activities, Pembrokeshire is the ideal location for your holiday or short break at any time of the year.

The medieval walled town of Tenby has long been a favourite destination of tourists and holiday-makers across the country. Although the town has seen many changes over the years, the old properties that line the cobbled streets have retained their Georgian charm, reminiscent of an entirely different era.

The harbour town has sweeping beaches stretching to the North, South and West and amazing views can be experienced from the shoreline; the Gower Peninsula and Carmarthen Bay to the East with spectacular scenes of Caldey Island to the South. Tenby harbour, just a short walk from the town itself, offers boat trips enabling first-hand exploration of the monastery island.

As well as a serene environment to relax, Tenby also offers plenty to do for the more active holidaymaker. Yachting, kayaking and windsurfing are just a few activities that are readily available off the shores and there are even opportunities for coasteering and cliff-jumping for the more extreme sportsperson! Tenby is ideally located for trips to wildlife and theme parks such as Oakwood, Folly Farm and Manor Park and with trendy wine bars and bistro’s Tenby also provides an exciting nightlife.
