The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

Tenby is one of Pembrokeshire and Wales' best loved seaside and harbour towns. With a history steeped in life at sea. From the bustling picturesque walled harbour to the outlying villages and castles, Tenby has something for everyone.

Whether you are enjoying life on either the North or South beaches or are out on a boat trip, the natural beauty of the coastline is breath-taking. Walk along the Pembrokeshire National Coastal Path, following the rugged Welsh coastline, to see dolphins and seals as well as a plethora of birds.

Take in some of the local seafood, caught fresh daily; You can even catch something for yourself from the harbour wall. A visit to the Monastic island of Caldy where the monks make their own brand of chocolate is a must. As is an adventure such as coasteering off the rocks.

For a touch of something unique Tenby hosts Welsh folk festivals, live music events both indoor and out, seafood festivals and Ironman Wales and the Long Course Weekend for that big event appeal.

Kids, both young and old, will love Folly Farm and Anna's Zoo as well as Oakwood and Heatherton Adventure Parks, where you can ride the rollercoasters and walk the high-ropes in the tree tops.

Take a scenic or fishing boat trip to any number of places along the coast. You never know what you may see!

Tenby

Situated at the furthest point West in Wales and the UK, Pembrokeshire has some of the most beautiful coastline on offer. From the Cathedral City of St David's to the Ferry ports of Fishguard and Pembroke, where you can hop over to Ireland within hours, there are no end of places to visit and adventures to be had.

Tenby is well located to access other nearby towns and villages by foot, car or public transport. It has year-round appeal and is a sun-trap with its sheltered beaches and harbour.

Play golf on any number of the local coastal courses, a hole with a view in Lydstep, Haverfordwest or alike. Take in some horse riding on the ancient petrified beach at Maros or walk from Amroth, through Wisemans Bridge and on to Saundersfoot via the disused mining train route. If you prefer life on the water then why not try surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing or just a bit of body boarding.

With so many beaches and coves to visit you will be sure to need to come back again and again. Likewise there are many historic castles, buildings and gardens to explore, with falconry displays, brass rubbing, guided tours and live events, you will be sure to learn so much about your ancestors whilst in the area.

Local vineyards producing wine for you to sample and farms a-plenty offering their own home-grown produce will keep your pallet satisfied.

Further afield the literary amongst you will appreciate a trip to Laugharne where Dylan Thomas wrote "Under Milk Wood" and many more poems and stories in his little shed overlooking the Taf estuary in neighbouring Carmarthenshire.

The larger towns offer the usual shops you are used to as well as indoor activities such as cinema, theatre, bowling, go-karting and every sport you can imagine. Whereas the smaller towns offer unique boutique shops, cafes and restaurants for that one-off outing.

If all that's not enough, then why not come to Tenby when professionals and amateurs alike come together for some of the best sporting events you will ever get to see; Ironman Wales and the long course weekend offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy the thrills of watching real sports men and women compete in many hours of swimming, cycling and running challenges. They even put on a mini version for the kids!

We hope you enjoy your visit, and come back again SOON!
