Tel Aviv City

Shenkin St. is one of the most popular streets in Tel Aviv, either for shopping or just for a coffee or light lunch.

The street is full of shops and cafés, some more expensive and some less. Many Israeli designers have small shops there, whether as groups or if they are successful, their own private place. Whether you are looking for a smart suite or presents for your children, you will have a wide selection on this street.

"A very bad experience"

We booked the place from december 27 to 31, 2013. Booking did not go as smoothly as I expected, based on past experiences. Suddenly my booking had to be cancelled because supposed to be, the original unit i booked (same name same photos) was already taken on the dates i wanted. so Avi requested me to book this unit (which looks the same as the other one on trip advisor site) via holiday lettings. No problems with payment, etc.
Real problem started when we arrived at the apartment at 2 am of december 28. The place was absolutely dirty. The entire apartment was not swept or dusted. The bed in the big bedroom was sort of made but the 2 sheets were not even ironed and did not look clean either; the mattress was of good quality but it was full of deep dark stains; under the bed was trash (empty plastic bottles, dust, pieces of paper; there were pieces of broken glass under the sofa/couch and even between the cushions; the coffee table was sticky; the other bedroom, which was locked when we arrived and had to key for it, was dirty and obviously, like the rest of the house, was not cleaned up: there were cigarette butts on the floor, the top bed was unmade - the used bed sheet and pillow were still on it; both mattresses were dirty and stained; there was even a mannequin in the room whose presence and purpose were rather unclear. The kitchen was in the same state as the rest of the place; we even found a broken glass inside one of the drawers, a cleaning sponge molding away in a plastic container, a dirty, fungi-ridden microwave oven, and a water heater that was dirty on the outside and full of calcium deposits inside. The bathroom must have been the cleanest room in the apartment, although it was very different from the picture: it was old, the window behind the toilet has some missing glass panels, faucet was full of calk deposits or some kind of substance that could not be removed, there were no hooks to hang towels on, the jacuzzi (which is also the shower stall) was indeed there but had permanent stains that we were even afraid to stand on it to take a shower less alone use it and there was a loose beam leaning against the wall whose purpose was unclear.
I called Avi to tell him about the situation and to his credit he did answer his phone. He sent his wife who said that she did not expect us till later in the day, a not understandable confusion since we booked and paid from dec 27 (and not 28), and given that check-in time was at 1 or 3 pm, the place should have been ready earlier that day because we only arrived 12 hours later.
So the wife made the beds at 3 am just so we could rest and she said she was coming back later to clean up. and that she did, which made our stay in the apartment tolerable but not relaxing or comfortable. There were 2 television units none of which worked and the wifi did not connect to the internet
on the whole, it just wasn't our experience of finding a dirty place that was horrible, the unit itself should not be rented out, specially not for the prize they ask for it. The building itself is like an abandoned construction site, the unit is dilapidated, there are no real windows, and its furnishings…well…. (I don't want to disgust the readers, hence i am not posting any photos of the place. But I can provide photos if necessary.)
This entire experience also cost me a lot of money on phone calls and text messages to avi and his wife.
we wanted to forget this event in our lives that I do not even know if i paid a deposit and if i did, if it was returned to me. Also the reason why i am only writing this review 4 months after our stay; even recollecting it still disgusts me.

"Dirty and dilapidated"

We stayed here for a few days beween Christmas and New Year's Eve. We arrived late at night. We were assured this would not be a problem. We called when we landed in Tel Aviv and Avi said welcome… More
