The Midi-Pyrenees / Tarn region
Being quite far South in France the weather is naturally a definite plus for this area. We have the added advantage that we are at quite a high altitude on the south of the Massif Central. This means we benefit from very pleasant long Spring and Autumn conditions, but also have slightly cooler temperatures in the main hot summer months compared with other locations this far south.
The region is dominated by plateaux dissected by wide meandering rivers providing stunning gorge scenery. Add to this the fantastic array of bastide towns and villages, castle fortresses and Chateaux and the two historic cities of Rodez and Albi and you are spoilt for choice.
Teillet area
The hamlet of Teillet lies on the Aveyron/Tarn border, half way between the two historic cities of Rodez and Albi. Both cities offer a wealth of architecture, amazing Cathedrals, bustling backstreets to explore and endless outside dining possibilities.
Within the area are many bastide villages, many ranking in the category of 'most beautiful villages in France'. Most noteable are: Conques; Sauveterre de Rouergue; Villefranche de Rouergue; St Antonin de Noble Val; Najac; Cordes-sur-ciel and Monasties and the list continues. All of these villages offer unique shops, crafts, markets, and festivals. The 'nocturne' (night markets) in the summer months are not to be missed.
Day excursions: Albi/Rodez - great for a glimpse of the history + architecture in the region (stylish shopping too!) Toulouse - for that 'has to be done' shopping experience Millau Viaduct - well worth a visit + can be combined by coming back through the famous 'Gorges du Tarn'. Cap Decouverte - adventure park for the whole family, ski, waterski, swim, taboggan, or even ride the longest zip line in Europe Micropolis - city of insects - fascinates the children, but a good day out for the whole family Bastide d'Albigiouse - car circuit to take in the key bastide towns around Albi
For those who prefer to stay closer to home the area is ideal for walking, cycling, birdwatching and generally taking in this calm serene area.
There are many activities for children in the local area including children's farms, wildlife parks, outdoor swimming complexes, canoeing, sailing to name just a few.

It is fully stocked to enable full cooking facilities including over work-top lighting.
Open stonework and beams combine with the oak dining table and chairs to provide a wonderful setting. Through the kitchen is a shower room and downstairs bedroom. On the second floor is a large sitting-room with Satellite TV, DVD + video, leading through to a second bedroom. Off a small landing a third story provides a romantic master bedroom and large bathroom up in the eves. In the grounds you will find the newly built 12mx6m swimming pool. It has a large 1m deep area entered by semi circular steps providing a large safe area for less confident swimmers.
This slopes away to a final depth of 2m allowing for those who like to dive. Lots of room to play but great for serious swimmers too. There is ample pool furniture available so you can enjoy relaxing and taking in the breath-taking views across the Viaur Gorge.
Further details outdoors: The farm complex is large and is situated on the edge of a small hamlet overlooking the Viaur valley. The grounds are shared with the resident English owners. A large 12x6m swimming pool was added to the property in summer 2006 and is completed with fencing to comply with French regulations.
The views from the pool side are beautiful. Despite being a shared complex, there is plenty of space for privacy. Older visiting children may use residents adventure playground which is situated below the pool, younger visitors can make full use of the toddler area located in the main grounds. We also have a games room with table tennis, darts and table football.
