Home description
Imagine being 20 seconds away from a beach! You even have a choice of beaches: a two-minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to the Den, with its children’s playground, Victorian pier and miles of golden sand. The town centre is around three minutes’ walk away, so you couldn't wish for a more convenient location.
Forresters Terrace, where the cottage is situated, is a quiet cul-de-sac leading onto the slipway and is used only for access and unloading, and you will be able to do this on arrival and departure. On street parking is just around the corner in The Strand, a week you can buy a permit for which will give you free 24-hour parking at Teignmouth’s two car parks, The Point and The Quay and at any car park in Newton Abbot, Dawlish or Shaldon. These can be bought from the Tourist Information Office on The Den.
Teignside Cottage is a former fisherman’s cottage, probably built around a couple of hundred years ago. It has plenty of character and atmosphere, while having been totally refurbished to include full gas central heating, a combi-boiler for instant hot water, fitted carpets apart from kitchen and bathroom, double glazing and contemporary neutral décor and lighting.
The owners have thoughtfully left a welcome pack which tells you about all there is to do in Teignmouth, and lists some of the shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs.
Teignside Cottage is close to the estuary

The West Country / Devon region
From golden sands to rolling countryside, peaceful villages to bustling centres, Teignbridge offers everything you need for a great holiday. Covering the coastline from the River Exe to the River Teign, the towns of Dawlish and Teignmouth, and the villages of Bishopsteignton and Shaldon offer much to explore and enjoy.
Dawlish Warren is rated as one of the top 5 beaches in the country with two miles of golden sands backed by dunes and a nature reserve. Supported by free children’s entertainment in the summer, comprehensive beach facilities and the prestigious Blue Flag award, this is a great location for nature lovers, building sandcastles and simply relaxing.
Teignmouth also boasts spacious sandy beaches, along with the qualities of a traditional holiday; the Victorian pier, lido and promenade lined with attractive flower beds. Take the foot passenger ferry across the mouth of the River Teign to Shaldon, a picturesque village with a Wildlife Centre and Botanical Gardens.
Teignmouth area
The area is well served by the A38, providing easy access to Newton Abbot, Exeter, Dartmoor and the numerous attractions of South Devon.
Shaldon is a picturesque village positioned on the banks of the River Teign on the opposite bank to Teignmouth. This peaceful location offers relaxing strolls along the river bank to the village centre where you will find pubs, local shops and restaurants.
Bishopsteignton is two miles inland with panoramic views across the river to rolling hills. Again pastel fronted houses line the narrow streets winding up to the small museum, open during the summer, while village pubs and shops retain all the charm and character you could hope for.
