GROUND FLOOR: Enjoy the large relaxing front lounge and an open dining area for everyone to sit. The fully equipped kitchen includes washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, large fridge, two microwaves and oven. With patio doors leading from the kitchen to a small sunroom and private walled garden to soak up the holiday atmosphere.

FIRST FLOOR: The first flight of stairs leads up to 1 double bedroom with a peaceful view of the garden. All the convenience of a shower room with basin and WC, 1 separate WC and 1 bathroom with bath and shower over and basin. A spacious large family bedroom with a double bed and single bed.

SECOND FLOOR: Leading up the stairs to the second floor where you'll find one large family bedroom with a double and single bed and 1 small double bedroom with a 4' 6" bed.

THIRD FLOOR: Up the last flight of stairs to the attic room: PLEASE MIND YOUR HEAD!!! Leading to a beautifully characteristic twin sized bedroom, consisting of 2 single beds. Velux windows with a glimpse of the estuary.

"Seaside Gem"

Eight stayed in house,3 couples and two children. Perfectly adequate, great location between two beaches. Numerous pubs and restaurants within two minutes walk. Everything provided, towels, bedding etc. Ideal location to sightsee South Devon.

"Great location but poorly maintained house"

As a family we take an annual British holiday during the same week each year. We always rent a holiday home that sleeps up to 9 people. Sadly this year's holiday was let down by Miss Murphys. … More

We were disappointed to read this review as it is our first unfavourable one. Our visitor's book at the house is full of glowing reports.

The garden is a walled established Victorian garden full of interesting planting, it is maintained but not manicured. Now that the busy summer season is over we can undertake further maintenance.

The furniture in the living room consists of an extremely comfortable three-seater settee and two large matching armchairs. There are two other Victorian armchairs and one Lloyd Loom chair, large floor cushions are also supplied. The room is clearly displayed on the website. We were surprised to see the way the chairs had been pushed together for the photograph.

The paintings on the wall are an eclectic mix of loved family favourites, quality framed prints and an award winning painting by a family member which has been much admired.

The pots and pans in the kitchen have been checked and a slightly loose handle on one has been rectified. The guest who visited the house next reported the problem with the oven door whilst at the house and the oven was replaced the same day; they were very pleased with our prompt response and thanked us in an email following their visit.

The window in the living room is double glazed as are the windows in the loft room. It has not previously been an issue to have double glazing elsewhere, in the summer months the windows are normally opened by guests to let the breeze through and cool the house.

The house is situated in the centre and hub of the town and on a Friday and Saturday night in particular there is a lively atmosphere in this area. It is a stones throw from the back beach pubs with their wonderful views of sunsets over the estuary.

We don't normally have the heating switched on in August. However, there is a wall mounted fan heater in the shower room should occasional extra warmth be needed here. We did offer to visit the house and switch the central heating on but the guest declined this offer and we are sorry there was a misunderstanding about this.

We were surprised to see a photograph of the under-stairs cupboard where we store maintenance materials for the on-going upkeep of the house and normally guests don't look or take interest in this area.

The outside garden store had some materials awaiting collection. This has now been cleared.

Regarding the sun room. This is a hardwood built small conservatory with a concrete floor. It is a pleasant place to sit and view the garden. It is furnished with an attractive rug, a sturdy table and three mis-matched chairs in the 'shabby chic' style.

Concerning the irreplaceable Victorian cistern and seat. The seat and toilet is cleaned thoroughly after each visit. Now that the busy summer season is ended we are able to sand and re-varnish the seat.

We know that the sheets were not damp as we always use the same laundry company and our helper who fitted the sheets for that visit confirmed that there was no issue when the beds were made. We hope that visitors will report any issues as soon as they notice them and we will rectify them immediately.

We have carefully noted this guest's comments and have taken any steps necessary to correct any perceived faults.

We were disappointed that this guest and his family were not completely happy during their stay and hope they will find a holiday home more suited to their requirements in the future.
