About the home
This is one of 3 beautifully decorated apartments set in a in Spanish cortijo in one of Andalucia's historic white villages. Apartment 2 is a double bedded studio with bed settee in living area plus fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. It also has ceiling fan, fan, electric heaters, satellite TV and Wi-fi access. The french doors lead onto a large balcony overlooking spectacular views. The house has a lovely private pool in a fantastic position with ample sunbeds and terraces on which to soak up the sun and unwind, as well as a good choice of tables and chairs. The apartments offer absolute tranquility and amazing views and yet they are in an unbeatable position - sitting below Teba Castle and only 0.5 km from the centre of the village. The road on which we are on leads only to a cementary, so has very little passing cars. The noisiest thing you may hear is a herd of passing goats or sheep!

The pool is 9m x 4m with a depth of .6m to 1.8m. Sunloungers are available throughout the pool area. The property has 200sq of terracing which has different shaded and secluded areas plus two gazebos and a separate barbecue area. A washing machine and washing line are available for your use.
You may wish to be waited on and enjoy a meal overlooking the fantastic view - we have a comprehensive evening menu as well as a snack menu. We endeavour to offer you anything you fancy, whether it be a paella with jug of sangria, Spanish style hake with clams or simply a bacon and egg sandwich!! For your convenience we have a fridge stocked with beers, soft drinks and bottles of wine.
Further details
We are only 15 mins drive from the Guadalhorce lakes. The famous EL CHORRO gorge is 20 mins by car. A car is very useful but not essential. We offer a taxi service for days out.
WE OFFER AN AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR 80 euros.
Conditions
Bookings require a 20 percent deposit. Towels and Bed linen are changed twice a week. Welcome hamper is provided.
The Andalucia / Malaga Province region
As well as Teba with its historic castle and beautiful scenery there are many white villages and towns well worth a visit. Ronda, a spectacular town with its impressive gorge and Antequera, an historic town with prehistoric caves and the beautiful El Torcal National Park, are both 35 mins drive.
Inland Andalucian has something for everyone all year round. Enjoy a much slower pace of life in summer, lounging by our pool or spending a day at the lakes, followed a livelier, slightly cooler evening strolling round the village, or perhaps at one of the local festivals which go on into the early hours. (Teba's summer fesival - first weekend in August 5 nights)
Come in Spring and enjoy the stunning surrounding countryside, at its best at this time of year, with its lush green fields and wild flowers. An ideal time for all sorts of outdoor activities. (Teba's spring 'Romeria' festival - middle May).
Autumn is usually balmy, clear and dry with cooler evenings, ideal time for all activities and for those who don't like it too hot! Teba's Cheese Festival takes place over the first weekend in October and 'The Scot James Douglas' Festival middle September (google for more info)
Come in the winter and make the most of cheaper rates, do some sightseeing at any of the provincial cities of Andalucia, go rockclimbing at El Chorro or perhaps hire one of our BMW motorbikes!
The Teba / Guadalahorce Valley area
The area is famous for it the being the Andalucian Lake District, a beautiful area with a nature reserve that has
3 large crystal clear, turquoise lakes. You can swim, hire pedaloes, kayaks and sunbeds. There too is the magnificent El Chorro gorge, which offers fantastic climbing.
Many activities are available for those with more energy and we are happy to help you arrange them if necessary. Horse-riding and paragliding are popular also mountain climbing, walking, cycling and bird-watching are the major themes in the area. Fantistic fishing is aplenty at the Guadalhorce lakes. If sight seeing is what you prefer, Ronda and Antequera are 30 mins drive. Malaga is 50 mins and the cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba are 90 mins drive. The main line train station is 15 mins. Our own private taxi service is available for trips should you not want to drive.

When we arrived at Malaga airport you are greeted with typically tourist, English speaking - Spain. But a short drive to Teba and you escape all this. The closer you get to Teba, the hotter it gets and more rural and rustically Spanish. La Calera becomes visible on the approach to Teba, and placed right on the edge, the views and backdrop are beautiful. Our photos look like a backdrop screen -unbelievable! La Calera itself is a set of 3 beautifully furnished apartments. There's a shared pool and lots of seating areas and terraces and sun loungers so you can be as involved with the Comers and/or other guests, or as isolated as you want to be. I'd say that La Calera caters for everyone and all ages as I'm 20, and went along with my parents and we all enjoyed the holiday equally! Our apartment was spacious, cool and you just couldn't fault it. I'd definately recommend Lindsays Seafood Paella if you venture to Teba, infact I'd venture to Teba just for the paella! The Comer family are so hospitable and really made the holiday. From an honesty fridge, local knowledge, taxi offers, table tennis and watching the wimbledon final with a drink in the sun - there is nothing they don't do to make your holiday the dream break from day to day life. Teba itself is an idyllic little Spanish village. Its worth that little English is spoken, if any at all, so a phrase book may be a worthy investment! But the locals are friendly and more than happy to help. We couldn't believe the prices either, there's no need for this to be an expensive vacation! The village came alive at night, with locals lining the streets at the bars and eateries and it's such a good experience! Overall, I'd definately recommend Teba, La Calera and a stay with the Comer family. I know I'd like to return.... |
