The La Palma region


The canary islands are commonly referred to as the islands of eternal spring, which speaks to their warm and sunny climate all year round. Come October or November when most mediteranean destinations are closing down for the winter, the high travel season begins on these islands.
La Palma is one of the seven Canary Islands. It is called Isla Bonita, the pretty island, for its natural beauty. (The island has preserved most of its original beauty and has halted overdevelopment while offering a wide variety of activities and sights of natural and cultural beauty that is unsurpassed). Green high cliffs covered with banana plantations and native pine trees at higher elevations drop into the dark blue black sand beach shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
The best climate zone on the island can be found on its dryer West side at or below 200 meters above sea level. Any higher elevation turns out to be too cold for swimming in winter. The village of Tazacorte where the apartment is located, is know for the sunniest part of the island. This means sunbathing and swimming in the apartment's pool or the ocean year round. La Palma is also famous for its interconnected hiking and bicycle trails tha span from North to South and East to West. One can hike for days and never leave the trail if so desired.
One of the most famous trails on the island connects several dormant volcanoes and traverses from sea-level to snow covered peaks in spring. One can imagine the diversity of fauna. La Palma's westside is also know for its spectacular sunsets, which can be enjoyed from the balcony and living-dining area of the apartment night after night.

The airport of the island of La Palma is located in Santa Cruz De La Palma.
Main airlines flying into Santa Cruz are: Condor, Iberian Air, TUI, Hapag Lloyd, etc..
There are direct flights into Santa Cruz, but many flights go over Madrid and then continue.
Flight time is about 4 hours.

The owner will meet you at the airport with the rental car. Drop off is even easier.
Directions to Casa Bella:
Once you leave the airport (which is located on the East of the island. You want to head towards the West side, which is direction: Los Llanos de Aridane. From Los Llanos head into direction Tazacorte, which is where Casa Bella is located. The total drive time from the airport to the apartment where our agent will meet you with the keys is about 45 minutes to one hour. The road will take you uphill over the mountaintop and through a tunnel to the West side. From there is it simply downhill. Once you reach the city Los Llanos de Aridane follow the main road signs indicating Tazacorte or Villa de Tazacorte. Once you get into Villa de Tazacorte you will get to the centre of town where you hit a roundabout (with a fountain in the middle). Keep heading left on the roundabout and take the second to last exit off it into the street Calle Primero de Mayo. (You will have made an almost 360 degree turn left drive). Drive along Calle Primero de Mayo for just a minute or less when you see on your right housenumber 16. This is the apartment building. It has an ocker color. Just park in front of the building and enter through the door in the middle of the property. Our agent will meet you there with the keys. Enjoy this most scenic drive.

We were very impressed with this place, beautifully furnished, and really really lovely owners who seem to have thought of everything! They were so kind and generous. If you like cooking your own food this is the apartment for you - the kitchen was really well stocked with plenty of pans etc. Supermarkets 2 mins away. |

My friend and me enjoyed staying at Casa Bella a lot! The apartment is very clean and the interior is modern and absolutely beautiful! Everything you need is there and if there is anything you need to know, then the extremely nice owners are more than happy to make recommendations for places to visit, restaurants, etc. Having traveled a lot in different countries, I have to say that I have never found such a great deal: I stayed at many places, but not many of them even came close to the cleanliness of this one, unless you spent significantly more $$! We loved overlooking the banana trees and seeing the ocean from the cute little balcony- and cooling off in the pool, of course. And you can walk to stores and nice little restaurants in Tazacorte. The only downside is that you probably don't want to go back home after your stay :) |

The view from the lving room and balcony are spectacular!
The Town Square, which has all of the markets, restaurants, etc. is less than 500 feet away.
The weather was great. We had warm sunny days and cool star light nights.

Ganz wunderbarer Blick auf das Meer.
Kurzer Weg in das Zentrum von Tazacorte mit Supermarkt und Restaurants.
Schöner Pool (der besonders unsere dreijährige Tochter begeistert hat) mit eigenen Liegen zum relaxen.
Und last but not least die wunderbaren Eigentümer Susanne und Richard die sich super um alles gekümmert haben.
