Home description

Located on Dartmoor National Park, the Old School cottage, part of the old village primary school. Accessed through the Girls & Infants entrance, the terraced cottage retains its charm with the arched windows and modern interior.

The Old School is an ideal base to start your exploration of Devon and Cornwall. Within a 15 minute drive you can reach many Dartmoor villages and attractions such as Burrator reservoir, Morwellham Quay. The market town of Tavistock, Princetown and Plymouth with its maritime history and seafront location are but a short drive. Shops and pubs 300 yards. The Eden Project is about 45min drive away. Looe & Polperro are about 35mins.

The West Country / Devon region

The beautiful village of Horrabridge and the River Walkham are situated in Dartmoor National Park. The cottage is an ideal base for walking or just relaxing in the local character pubs (we have 2). Many National Trust properties are in the locality and the towns and surrounding villages steeped in history.

Tavistock / Dartmoor area

Within a 15 minute drive you can reach many villages - Meavy, Yelverton, Clearbrook and Princetown to name a few. Golf clubs and attractions such as Burrator Reservoir, Morwellham Quay and Lydford Gorge. Many local National Trust properties including Buckland Abbey and Saltram House are but a short drive.

The historical market town of Tavistock with it's Pannier Market is less than 4 miles. Princetown is 5 miles. Plymouth with its maritime history and seafront location 10 miles. Plymouth airport 6 miles.

Various festivals take place through the year including the famous Goose Fair in Tavistock.
The Eden Project is about 45mins to drive.

How to get there

Fly into Heathrow or Gatwick airports and take a train to Plymouth via Paddington Station (London).
Bristol, Plymouth or Exeter airports are closer.
BY CAR DIRECTIONS:
M5 South/A38 Plymouth. Follow signs for Tavistock (A386). Turn left at Yelverton roundabout. Turn right into Horrabridge village centre. Cross stone bridge and turn left. Leaping Salmon pub is on your right. At the White Chapel (250 yards) turn right. The Old School House is 50 yards on the left. Alternatively, M5 South/A30 to Oakhampton. Stay on A30 and take A386 to Tavistock. At Tavistock cross 2 small roundabouts and take Whitchurch Road. Follow this road until Horrabridge (3 miles). After traffic calming, travel for 300 yards and turn left at the White Chapel house. The Old School House is 50 yards on the left.

Ground floor: Lounge and dining area. Shaker style kitchen with wooden floor, shower room with toilet & basin. First floor: 2 bedrooms - 1 5ft double, 1 twin. Up to 2 additional guests can use the leather sofa bed in the lounge for £20 per night - including bed linen & towels. Maximum overall cottage occupancy is 6 adults.

A deposit of £100 is required to secure the booking. The balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

If booking within 8 weeks of arrival, then full payment is required.

Cancellations within 8 weeks incur a charge of £250. Before 8 weeks charge is £100.
