Whitelady House is a large country retreat, accommodating up to 12 guests in style & comfort. This private house is ideal for exclusive anniversary or birthday celebrations, wedding and hen parties, reunions, family get-togethers or just for that special holiday. The house has been renovated and lovingly refurbished, exuding style and character with oak beams, inglenook fireplaces and exposed stone work, whilst retaining a homely, relaxed atmosphere.
We provide a memorable venue for a fun & relaxing house party, either self-catering or catered. As an alternative to self catering we can remove the burden of preparing and cooking for a large group by providing a fully catered service where we will create and serve meals at the house. Sit back and enjoy the company of friends & family, while we arrange everything for you.
Situated close to Tavistock, down a private drive, the huge expanse of Dartmoor is 100yds from the entrance, and the National Trust's Lydford Gorge is at the bottom of the garden.

Whitelady House is ideally located to discover and explore the whole of Dartmoor by foot, by mountain bike or on horseback; outdoor activities abound and are on your doorstep! From riding, tree surfing, gorge scrambling, wild swimming, clay pigeon shooting, falconry to name a few.
At the bottom of the garden is the National Trust's Lydford Gorge with its famous Whitelady Waterfall.
To the South, discover the delights of Tavistock, voted The Daily Telegraph's Market Town of the Year, full of independent shops and the famous Pannier Market. A little further on is the beautiful Tamar Valley (the hidden secret of Cornwall), and, then on to the south coast with its quaint fishing villages, sandy beaches and Plymouth Sound.
To the North, is the rugged coastline with Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Isaac.
To the East is the cathedral city of Exeter, steeped in history and a shoppers paradise. Head west and you reach Cornwall, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The choice is endless.
The South West is also reknown for it food and local produceand Tavistock is no exception with an award winning farmers market an superb cheese shop and many qulaity butchers and a famous deli.

The vast expanse of Dartmoor provides beautiful scenery, great rock-tors, heather-covered hills, woods & valleys as well as many pretty villages and very lively small market towns. All protected by being in the Dartmoor National Park.
Dartmoor provides a great playground for walking, riding, tor-climbing, picnicking, kite-flying, pony-trekking, cycling, fishing, gorge scrambling, swimming and letterboxing to list just a few of the activities available and all on your doorstep.
Tavistock and the surrounding area is also foodie heaven, with many local weekly artisan food markets and farmers market for you to buy great produce to create your own dishes or enjoy the many great restaurants and pubs in the area serving fabulous fresh produce.
Lydford village (two good food pubs, church, the Norman Castle, the prison and the massive and spectacular granite viaduct of the former Exeter-Plymouth railway line, now the start of the cycle track taking you across Dartmoor via Meldon reservoir to Okehampton) is famous for the gorge and Whitelady Waterfall.

I am so glad you and your cockapoo enjoyed your stay, Dartmoor is perfect for dog with miles and miles of moorto roam only 500 yds from the front door . We also love Lydford Gorge but know what you mean about aching legs, I think it is 246 steps from the Waterfall back up to the garden!
