Home description

Perfect location for families, groups and couples, seeking relaxation, comfort, nature and seaside without the crowds. Four houses which can be let separately or joined together, each sleeping either maximum 5 or 8 people.

The House has sea views set in Ria Formosa nature reserve near 18km beach islands. Private grounds with a 400m2 swimming lake and lawns within farm land with almond, fig and olive trees. 5 minutes by car from the historical town of Tavira and the fishing village of Santa Luzia.

Four beautiful fully equipped houses can be rented together, sleeping a total of 24 people. Just ask us about the combinations possible and prices.

A truly peaceful and idyllic location with all modern comforts and amenities at hand. UK TV plus Sky Channels. DVD and CD player. The houses are luxurious, cool and light, with ceiling fans and marble floors throughout which help maintain the freshness. All furnishing is new, modern and comfortable.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The Eastern Algarve, particularly around Tavira, is a beautiful unspoilt area, with 18km of uncrowded fine sandy beaches and islands, ancient Moorish towns with a presence of Phoenician times and charming, almost timeless traditional villages nestling in the rolling hills of the 'Serra'.

The climate in the Algarve is mild through out winter months and spring .From March/April it gets warmer in the evenings and temperatures reach up to 30 degrees during the day. High summer can reach up to 40-45 degrees.

Beaches in the Eastern Algarve are wide, sandy and safe for children, with the EC Blue Flag for cleanliness. They belong to the nature reserve 'Ria Formosa' and are renowned for their wildlife, dunes and riverlife.The nearest beaches from Quintamar are about 1.5km . They are reached by foot, small ferry boat or by a little train.
Barril beach and Santa Luzia beach are the closest and accessed either by foot via country lanes, small train or by a boat service. Both can be reached within about 15 minutes walk.

Tavira Island has a good selection of restaurants and bars plus a camping ground and is more active in the high season, there is a constant boat service. Refreshments and meals, sun-beds and parasols, are available on most beaches.
Daytime entertainment for children can be found in the large water parks on the otherside of Faro, which run most of the year due to the good climate.
The Spanish border is only a twenty minutes drive from Quintamar, and historic Seville is 2 hours drive and, with its ancient palaces, cathedrals and riverside parks and cafes, is well worth a visit.


Tavira / Santa Luzia, Tavira area

Tavira has all amenities and a vast choice in good restaurants, bars and pavement cafes. Divided by a small river crossed by pedestrian and Roman bridges, Tavira remains an authentic and charming tapestry of old and new, a legacy from its colourful past.

Summer brings a variety of outdoor and cultural entertainment to Tavira, including 2 outdoor cinema festivals, the visiting national ballet, and classical concerts and local folk dancing.
Restaurants, cafes and small shops dot the river side. There are plenty of restaurants in Santa Luzia, renowned for fresh fish and seafood. Tavira has a big supermarket and many shops and amenities plus numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. Santa Luzia has an annual festival during the second week of August, with open air concerts and traditional events on the river plus many stalls.

There are many beautiful sites in and around Tavira, including waterfalls and hilltop hamlets. Fresh water streams, small waterfalls and rivers merge with the warmest seas of the Atlantic which lines the 18km white sand stretch of semi-duned islands, creating plenty of idealic pockets to discover... A haven for fishing and cockle picking!

Local activities include boat trips, golf, sailing, tennis, hill-walking, horse riding, bird watching, sea fishing, waterslide parks.

About 5 minutes car drive away are Benamor golf course and Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria. Beautifully maintained Championship level golf courses, par 72, around 5,500 - 6,110m, 18 hole, well situated with coastal views.

Fly to Faro, 40 minutes drive from airport to Quintamar
Cheap flights also to Sevilha and Jerez da Fronteira(Spain), approximately 2 - 3 hours drive.
Lisbon approx 3.5 hours drive.
Easy Jet, Monarch, Ryan Air are amongst the cheapest airline companies.

The houses each have an area of between 70 and 100m2 with 20m2 of terraces plus two big patios. The living room is spacious and cool, with two large sofas, and opens through double sliding glass doors on to a large terrace with pergola, facing the lake.
All rooms have doors and windows with sliding mosquito nets, double glazing, shutters and blinds. The rooms are all cool and spacious with marble floors and have ceiling fans.
There is a 20"TV with sky tv channels, DVD and CD player. The kitchen is open plan with a granite worktop and dining table. It is all modern and fitted, with electro - ceramic hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. There are dishwashers in the two larger houses.
The bathrooms are large with stone floored shower, toilets and sinks. The two larger houses have bath tubs and two bathrooms in each.

Further details outdoors:
The terraces all have garden furniture, sun loungers and bbqs. There is a sandpit and large bbq area for all to use plus large lawned areas for games. Children are welcome to visit the playground with swings and a pirate boat set next to a large avery where they can feed the chickens and rabbits.
For winter rentals, the houses have wood burning stoves, which are contained so that hot air circulates and no smells or smoke can escape. They are very effective and easy to operate. Firewood is provided.
The grounds are open fields with olive and almond trees, bordered by country lanes which lead to the fishing village, river, beach island or town of Tavira.
The lake is biological and has an area of 400m2. Half is purposely made for swimming and the other half for plants, which oxygenise and clean the water. It is very beautiful and ecological, attracting many kinds of birds and wildlife. A wonderful alternative to chemical pools, still maintaining a clear and clean quality of water, far better for ones skin and especially for children.
One side of the lake has lawns and wooden decks and the other has pebbles leading around the lake and to a dove house and avery. There is a sandpit and two large barbecue areas for all to use.
Quintamar is family friendly and good for large groups as the houses can interconnect if required.
An idyllic and very peaceful location with easy walking access to everything.
